Does anyone ever go on a meet and not join in? If so, why are they there?

Because they wanted to be, from the very first meet there has been no pressure an anyone to take part, if they want to fine, if they don't fine, the whole idea originally was to meet others and at the same time save a few quid.

There are some who occasionally you wish didn't join in but thankfully that is a rarity!

Misread that papa and thought you were for the sack. Thought it said Ratty .

We went on our first rally at Hatfield easter this year. Claire Marquey and everyone else were brill. Passed the time of day and kept aware of things that were going on but never any pressure to join unless you wanted. Will be going on more when able to get back after recuperating.

Jings, you trying to get me in the bad books, after a few beers I am sure you are not the only one who made that mistake! lol, Thankfully I am still gainfully employed although this is the only campsite I work for free for, anyone else has to pay me to stay! [8D]

Good luck with the recuperating, spending most of mine working on me website. Its had more added to it in the last fortnight than it has in the last 18months! Its so good to be 'getting there' again!

Gld you enjoyed the meets, Claire and Marquay are pretty much like the rest of us that aorganise meets, easy come easy go, and that is what its all about really, have a relaxing weekend in the company of others, when and how you want to is your choice, I'll bet you wish you had started going earlier!
The one thing I have missedso far this year is getting away with the tourer, hopefully we will get a few trips in before it gets too wet and windy again! (er, forget that last bit  - actually its been sunny again today but yesterday! yuch!!!)

Hi Colin,

It took me a long time to pluck up courage to try a meet, but eventually I went to Greenhills in Oxford and it was so great I can't wait to go back there next weekend.

It's a beautiful site, very clean, and everyone was so friendly. We did gather in one of the tents for drinks, nibbles and chat, but it was by no means compulsory, and we did gather on the Saturday evening for a BBQ in the rain. (Bring your own food to cook)

Suggest you try a meet - you have nothing to lose - except maybe a weekend trying to dry out a canvas!  :-)

HI

I have been looking at the various meets that are on offer through UKcampsites. How many people on this forum have used them and what are they like. Thankyou

Colin

hi colin
I'm going on my 1st meet this weekend so will let you know.. but I'm sure I will have a great time!!

Bite the bullet & join us at Akebar in sept.

You'll never know until you try...& at the end of the day if it's not for you then you've still had a weekend away!! just like going to any campsite with other people on it!!!

We have just come back from the Hexham meet and Jewels and I had a fabtime.

If you wan't to join in and have a chat or a drink everyone is made to feel very welcome.  If you just want to sit back and relax and watch from a far then you are still welcome.

Hope we see you at a meet soon

well I didn't hesitate when booking a meet!!! in fact akebar was supposed to be the 1st one but I couldn't wait ... so jumped on another!!!! lol

It was fab!!!! Carolee was the 1st I met & she's lovely...we chatted straight away so felt comfortable!!!

then met Teloz... what a great guy!!! couldn't ask to meet a nicer bloke on your 1st meet!!!

Then the host claiemc came to introduce herself & she was extremelly friendly.. no pressure just "hi & I'm....."

then troddy arrived which just made the wicked threesome up!!!

you meet lots of lovely people & can talk as much or as little as you want...it's your holiday & everyone respects that!! I had a beefer of a time.. (that means a fabulous time)& so did my children!!!
thanks again all for a brill time

can't wait for alkebar ...so I'm gonna check out any that are sooner!!!
