Have you ever been to the Salterforth site near Barnoldswick?

I don't remember having ever been to Barnoldswick in my lifetime, despite having lived only about 10 miles away from it (in or near Blackburn) for about 25 years.  No sorry, I have never seen the caravan site at Salterforth.

Cheers
Andrew

Perhaps I look at it differently.

Each to their own.

I don't care about the price I am happy to pay any price for a site that gives me what I need.

Cruachan did not give us what we needed with regards to amenities and recreational facilities but the CC site in Killin did. If it would have cost me double the price for the CC site I would have gladly paid it.

That said we loved the meet in Killin and the people we met were really lovely

We're kinda in a quandry whether to renew the C & CC membership. It does seem to slew toawrds caravans to a degree but i love reading the mag when it comes through.  Also, as yet, we haven't used a club site. We are hoping to get to Culzean some time in may but that will be just matt and i. When you start adding in the kids it does seem to get slightly pricey but then again, money is a big factor for us regardless of club site or other site so it's prob just us over analyzing it!

Hands up who remembers leaving Cruachan on the Monday morning ?  It was horrible white with snow and the roads were getting bad, any way as we drove the front of the caravan was getting first thick with snow, then with the salt (we followed behind a gritter for a few miles) when we put the van away in the storage it was a mess, realy needing a good clean, the next weekend it snowed here, the next was raining and so on, today was finaly nice weather at the same time we had time to go and clean the van, got all our cleaning kit in the car and of to the storage we went, only to find...........the van was gleaming, as clean as it was before we left for Cruachan , We HAVE A SELF CLEANING VAN

funny thing about that trip was by the time we got to strathyre it was sunny and a braw day. couldnt have had nicer weather to come home in.

going through glen ogle was gorgeous with the snow on the old viaduct, that is a project for me to model that viaduct as a N guage project

Yep - true for us too.

The wind, though, had turned.  No longer a northerly but from the south-west, so we drove straight into that on the way home too.  Still, the Patrol's engine wasn't hesitating and misfiring so badly on the way back - did 21mpg towing (compared with 17mpg heading north on Good Friday).  It's now been fixed and is running perfectly again.  The problem was the fuel filter.

Cheers
Andrew
