my mum says seventeen, after a lot of dillying, so only a year and a half to go!!!

Don't worry, there are lots of teenagers your age who go - my youngest son is 15 now so in 18 months time you will be about the same age! I would recommend pitching your tent at a meet with someone who has teenagers, then you won't feel alone. People always muck in together and you won't be short of friends, I promise you!

I can understand your mum's caution - my daughter is 15 now too, only 4 months younger than you and I wouldn't let her go on her own at the moment either  unless maybe I knew some people already! Keep an eye out for meets near you & maybe you could come over & meet us?

BTW think your idea about the committee is a good one - so all the teenagers can decide a plan when we get there.

hi

ive thought about coming to your meets we camp with our grandson whos just turned 9 hes a good kid and stays with in the boudarys we set him.

he often plays with other children but always with in sight of us (as some one eles has said hes our resposiblity ) but am sure he would like to sit in a "kids area" and chat or play games with others . we play with him but its just not the same as being with freinds of your own age group , one camp we went to at Sandringham , the kids had a brill time just chilling out in the edges of the trees by the swing park. the trees were only a few but enough to give the kids somewhere to play and they were in sight all the time

the suggestion of a pitch for their own gazebo ..could that be central to or  next to the host etc  I would be happy to have it near me providing there were rules ( i used to be  a Scout Leader so kids are ok ) maybe we could add some small games like cards or board games I think it would be better to provide this space than not know where the kids are i don't think you could put an age on it it wouldn't be fair the kids will sort themselves into smaller groups anyway

am i right in thinking that if its a meet you all camp with in proximty of each other anyway

maybe 2007 will be the year i go on a ukcas meet ?
