I have recently been considering the thought of buying a solar panel to charge the battery in my van. This would give me the freedom to try sites where electric hook up is not available. Just wondering if anyone has already gone down this road, and if so, is it worthwhile

Hi I have got  12v 12w from maplins and they seem to do the job ok. they do put the power back in. I suppose it depends on how much you take out of the battery.

No doubt someone will be along soon with more experiance of them than me.

We have a Detroit 45 watt solar panel and can easily manage 4 or 5 weeks without an EHU. We have a 110 battery and can run a small 12 volt TV for a couple of hours a day. Detroit have a web site for more info. Incidently it cost us £245 about 5 years ago which we certainly have recouped.
