Where are all our NI campers and caravanners going for Easter?
I'm hopeful for good weather but who knows as we're very used to a very mixed bag.
We're for Rushin House, with 2 other caravanners so almost a mini meet!
Oh roll on Easter, can't wait to get away!

Hi Wendy, we're going nowhere. I have to work Mon/Tue so not going away. We were at Drumaheglis last weekend and had great weather. Next trip is Carnfunnock in 3 weeks time.
Paul
Hi Paul, we were at Drumaheglis a few weeks ago and also got great weather, we always seem to be lucky there! Too bad you're working over Easter but I suppose that means you get extra time off when the rest of us are working - lucky devil!
I don't think we will be doing Carnfunnock this year, our kids have really outgrown it and now prefer a site with access to water for either kayaking or surfing! As long as I have my glass of wine and a comfie seat I'll go anywhere!

We are for Delamont Friday to Tuesday!!
Anybody else going there?
Haven't been there in years! We had friends there last Easter and they had terrible time with electric tripping at tea time, don't rely on your microwave for dinner! Lovely walks and park for the kids..
Have a great time, hope weather improves, though I have my doubts!

Hello Wendy I'm heading there too. Myself and wife with our caravan and my daughter and family with theirs. Its their first time with their own caravan, an old 6 berth I pesuaded them to buy at the end of last season. They are all exited, its a new adventure and the kids are are jumping hoops. We are arriving on the Tuesday for a few days.
Frank
Frank, good to hear somebody else going to Rushin House, sounds like your daughter is very excited, I remember our first van and trips away. We normally go on Easter Tues but this year we're heading down Good Friday and staying a week, kids will have their kayaks with them and hoping it is not too cold for some adventure on Lough MacNean. A bit of sunshine would be great..
Do say hello, you can't miss us.. orange kayaks!

tnb1 - I would get one of the good inflatable kayaks too, only there seems to be a lack of places to use them here, most obvious places (Castlewellan, Craigavon Lakes, etc) need you to have (very expensive) licences, there doesn't seem to be anywhere here like Keswick where anyone can throw a boat in the water, no questions asked.
Arthur, we have loads of places here, have a look at http://www.canoeni.com/Canoe_Trails.aspx and you can send for maps, we have the full set, http://www.activitybrochuresni.com/ and there is access everywhere, no need for a license. Only waters out of bounds are water service areas, that is all the damns and loughs they own, eg Lough Mourne, Silent Valley etc,, This is Lough Neagh, lots of access http://www.canoeni.com/Lough_Neagh.aspx and Strangford lough is similar, then we have all the rivers eg Bann & Black water..
There are Canoe and Kayak clubs and you will find events and fun paddles listed here http://www.cani.org.uk/?tabindex=33&tabid=2661
For our sort of kayaks there is also sea surf, kids already belong to a yacht club and they have a kayaking section too, it means they can take the kayaks out on normal sailing days on the sea and there is the usual rescue boats on hand if they get into trouble. There are lots of sea paddles around Belfast, Bangor & Islandmagee.,
Get paddling!
Wendy
