Six Mile are extending their caravan park by between 15 and 20 new pitches.  They are doing this at the far end of the site into the left behind the trees, well positioned. No idea if they are building additonal amenities but it will be completed by next year.  We saw some work there at the weekend and asked..

Having had the misfortune to have worked in Antrim for 10 years, I really can't understand why anyone would want to stay at Sixmilewater site, it's not in a great place at all.

Arthur it is a very nice little site and well run and maintained. Becoming very popular, hence the plans to extend.

If you are referring to Antrim town then I take your point, we would only ever be in the Tesco store to replenish the wine supplies!

I've visited Antrim site a few times. Its clean and tidy, in a lovely setting, and my grandkids think its great. There's plenty of room for them to play, the swimming pool, play park and ten pin bowling is close by. There is also a fun centre in the Junction one retail park. Even with all this it is still a reasonably quiet site just to wind down.

I just would be worried by anti-social behaviour from locals. The site itself and it's location is grand.

Going there mid June and we only live in Newtownabbey!. Just want to try somewhere different.

You can get anti social behaviour anywhere. Two weeks ago at Delamont youths came into the country park (not caravan site) at 1 am and ripped the road barrier off, the vandalised the train track and upturned the recycling bins in the main car park. We heard them at the barrier as our caravan was pitched literally over the hedge from them. Thankfully they didnt come near the site.

No antisocial behaviour ever when we have been there, main carpark is now barriered and no access to public cars after 10pm.. Public are not allowed into site, not even to walk your dog through..

One of the quietest council sites we've been to.. Well run, wardens do a great job, and facilites are spotless.

That's true. Last time we visited Delamont, we were in a Killyleagh chippy, and the local paper headlines was about a gang who went from the village and destroyed the campsite sewer. It does seem to be a bad area too. Obviously people without enough brains to realise that 100 caravans brings with it a certain amount of local trade.

What about the Lough Neagh flies???
Are they still as bad?
Used to live in Antrim, they were a pest.

Well we are just back from a great w/end at Six Mile Water caravan site. Having travelled just 11 miles from our house to the site we had a really enjoyable time meeting up with my brother and family. The kids had a brilliant time being chased by the ducks, watching the jetskis, playing in the playground at the leisure centre, cycling their bikes, playing pool..... the women had a great time at Junction One shopping complex and the dog had its 4 feet walked off it as usual. We went for a lovely meal at Moes Grill on the Saturday night.

The site itself is immaculately kept, as are the facilities which are accessed with a swipe card. It was fully booked over the weekend with a mix of local, English and European tourists in Campers, caravans and tents. There was no antisocial behaviour on or near the site and the public carpark was closed off each night by the staff on their way home so no boyracers flying round the carpark.

I must say we were all pleasantly surprised by this site and we will go back again.

Only one downside....the flies....they weren't too bad due to the showery weather though.

Paul

No further on with the extension. I noticed where the ground had been levelled but it has now started to grow over with grass.

Update on the extension.. the extension will continue in a few weeks time as they didn't want to be working at it during the caravan season.  There won't be an additional amenity block for the extra pitches and the tents are being moved round to that area too.. So all change, just hope the amenities can hold up to it!
