hi all we are off to hollingworth lake campsite(ol15 0at) for the easter weekend camping dependant on the owners allowing tents on !! Just wondering if any other members will be going to this site this weekend if so please let us know kind regards !
Would be great for me if I could have ehu and get there by public transport. I had planned to go down to Norfolk from Thursday to next Tuesday - just me, small tent and two dogs - but am having to have a rethink because of the rail strike situation, and at the moment it looks like I'll be staying home

I live near Hollingworth Lake, walk my dog there every weekend. Its raining at the moment and very soggy, but when the sun shines its lovely. If I popped by for a chat, how would I recognise you?
Due to the weather being very poor and speaking to the owners of the site we have decided not to go this easter weekend but have already booked for the first bank holiday weekend in may.. Thanks once again for the posts!!
Bus from Bolton to Rochdale, from there to either Milnrow or Littleborough, you will have to ask which bus will drop you nearest to Hollingworth Lake. There is a bus which goes right passed the lake, but Im not sure which number. From the lakeside pub The Wine Press its a short walk along the lake side to the campsite. Good luck.
Thanks for that. When I was with my OH we used to walk the dogs round the lake quite often so I know where the campsite is - we often said we would have a weekend there but never managed it. In view of kitch72's post, and the lousy weather we have at the moment, I don't think I'll be going though. The transport details are good to know though for future reference, so thanks again.

Dont blame you, its been snowing, raining and its bloody cold! Im waiting for the next nice weekend and Im going up to St Helenas in Leeds. My son is at uni there so he can help me set up and its near enough to home that I can leave if weather turns. Looks a nice site, got some good reviews, but Ill try anything once.
Well I'm just sorting out the final details of my mpv so I'll be driving soon - my new little dog Sophie hasn't been to Hollingworth Lake yet so hopefully it won't be long before I bring them both for a Sunday afternoon out. I've always liked going for a meal in the cafe with the chippy next to it, maybe when I do come over we could meet up there for a brew.
