anyone who is motorhoming or caravanning alone fancy meeting up at a 'not too out in the sticks' and 'easy to get to' location in Hampshire some time soon?   I suggest Dibles Park in Warsash, near Southampton - easy to reach on good roads off of Junction 9 M27 Motorway and open all year, clean, reasonably priced, dogs welcome, etc.

I may be intrested as long as it doesnt involve dog sitting duties as well, it would also depend on dates and how long required for as we have 6 separate weeks booked already for next season, but if all else fails, try Housesitters.com, I think some of them do use motorhomers and caravanners to cover their duties, which include animal feeding and security work, you may find this a better option as they sort out the insurance cover for you as well.

It would be good to know further details of pitch type, hardstanding or grass, what hook up is available and what the access to the place is like, narrow lanes ect?

Hi Julia - not sure about the reference to dog sitting in your reply to my post, as I am not involved in this activity at all so maybe I put this unclearly.

Anyway, the road to Dibles Park is excellent as it is not in the heart of the countryside but very near to the coast for days out, etc. (is in a little village called Warsash, near Southampton) - it is motorway all the way until you get off at Junction 9 of the M27, and then very straightforward, easy to use roads for about 2 miles until you get to the site itself.

Supersal52.

Isn't this a bit of a "Tentist" post ? You could have at least acknowledged Tina's post !!

Hi Steve - this is most strange, because I replied to Tina immediately to say that there was a tent pitch at the suggested site and included a link to the facilities, etc.

I wonder where my response actually went?

Anyway, Tina - please accept my apologies and hope you received an email to tell you that I had responded, etc. - please let me know if nothing received and I will find the link again and resend.

In the meantime, did you want to make any further relevant suggestions, Steve as to a site, etc?

Sally

Julia, I wonder if this post was intended to be in response to this thread?

I am a solo tenter but have been out of commission and unable to travel far since June 2010 due to eyesight problems. However, as soon as I can, I hope to get back on the road again. I am hopeful that my sight will be restored sufficiently to go camping again by the end of March and perhaps an initial camping trip not too far from home would be ideal. Doubtful I will be able to get away before the end of March though but I will keep my good eye on the thread. 24

...only one tent pitch available on Dibles Park though 24

Hi Supersal52

Sorry for the misunderstanding !! The only site I know of and recommend in your area is The Deers Hut in Liphook. A basic site with Ehu and good food pub on site, very easy to reach. We have had a couple of meets there in the past.

Hi Steve - Thanks for your suggestion - Liphook and surrounding area is beautiful, but unfortunately, my two dogs are both seriously ill (both with heart conditions, a horrible coincident as they are not related and are five years apart, age wise) and would find the journey time to Liphook too long, sadly, even though it would only take around an hour.  Our maximum journey time at the moment is half an hour.

Nevertheless, thanks for the suggestion as this may suit some other campers very well, especially as the roads are straightforward.

Hi Bob61, maybe look forward to seeing you in March or later in the year.  So sorry to hear about your eyesight.

Regards, Sal.
