Gosford in Co Armagh.

Good site, typical forestry toilets but are cleaned regularly with a campers kitchen.

Lots of animals in the park and lovely walks.

Clare Glen in Tandragee is a small forest park with campers kitchen, washing machine etc.  There is really only walks here so may not be suitable for a 4 year old but you could book and go to the Tayto factory.  You could do that from Gosford also as it is only 8 miles down the road.

Benone Complex is a nice site for camping.  Close to Benone beach with a swimming pool and play area for children (at an extra cost).

Carnfunnock if you want to sleep on a hill.  Nice park but not good for tents in my opinion.

Sandylands in Cranfield Co Down (near Kilkeel).  Close to the beach also and great area to fly a kite.

NI is I think a bit limited for camping, as wacablue says popular sites like Carnfunnock are not really geared up for tenting. There are some gems though, like Rushin House.

For a first time out you might like a more sanitized experience - like the C&CC site at Delamont, which is quiet, has good facilities, is near a huge playground and many walks. The only catch is there are 6 (I think?) tent pitches, so you'll need to book in advance. Sleepy Hollow in Donegal also gets very good reviews for tents.

A favourite of mine is The Share Centre in Fermanagh, there's a very laid back vibe there. I also like Benone, there's some info about it on my blog here...Link

Don't know about good ones but steer well clear of Casey's in Downings.

Campsite facilities are filthy and never cleaned and the Downings itself has a major noise problem with young drivers using the main road, 30 yards from the campsite, as a wheelie practise area from pub closing time until 4am when the fast food places shut.

Then you are wakened at 6am when the tractors and agricultural trailers start rolling past.

We were there for 6 days, having made arrangments to visit relatives. Had we not made these plans, we would have up sticks and left after one night.
