Hi Wendy, Hope you enjoyed the festivities. I've just managed to escape the crap weather by coming home a day early but had a brilliant New Year's Eve camping in the Cotswolds, a mild Eve, fairly dry Sunday and very sunny Monday to walk right along the Malvern Hills.
Come hike some mountains this year; it would be great for the gang to get together again.
Happy Camping New Year.
Happy New Year Cazz!! Sounds like you had a fabulous New Year's Eve camp.... Very jealous indeed!! ..... I spent the night with my head down the lavvie, after a dodgy curry!!!! Not how I imagined to be letting the New Year in!!!
I can't believe how the weather has changed so much in the last 3-4 weeks!! It's so changeable. It was so mild in mid December, I seriously considered having an overnight camp somewhere close with the temp being 14deg up here. We had a new roof put on our house instead!!!!!!! Joy :o)...
Your walk along the Malvern Hills sounds lovely! I've never been to the Cotswolds, I hear it's amazing walking country though. I do intend to do alot more walking and climbing this year, there's so many places I want to see and experience! I'm sure there will be a meet somewhere soon that we can all get together and catch up! Would be lovely to see you all again......Here's to a mild Spring and a HOT Summer......
Wendy :o)

Longing to be camping somewhere......anywhere...
The Ben Nevis camp-and-hike is likely to be in early June around, or just after, the double bank holiday. We are negotiating suitable dates.
Our plan is to camp at Glen Nevis campsite and walk up the mountain from there in a group.
This particular meet is for those who want to walk up the mountain. As soon as we have the dates sorted we'll start a separate thread and a list of participants.
I think the meet over at Glen Nevis is mostly aimed at the hike up the big hill nearby Andy, but there's plenty of low level walks nearby and loads to do in that area, especially if you have transport.
Hi all, hope this meet has as much interest from members as the last one, I am looking forward to meeting you all again. The site looks a good one Skip. I am hoping to be fit enough to do the climb Neil, but if not will bring the bike and do a bit of the cycle route along the Caledonian Canal, weather permitting.!!!
There is a bit of snow on the hills up here now,so I am reduced to walking the streets to try and stay supple.
All the best,
Andy

Hi, just an idea for those who fancy Ben Nevis but not all the way (less fit or nervous peeps or just those who dont want to go the whole shebang maybe). We go there often. Hubby and his fit pals usually go right to the top. Us lazybones usually gives them a couple of hours headstart then we start. We usually get half way or two thirds of the way up before meeting them on their way down. Suits us all, they get to the top, we still get a good enjoyable walk and then the pub.
Due to a lack of transport I've been getting together a wee backpacking/light set up to get me off for some weekends...I usually hire a van when taking all my stuff but as you can imagine the cost of that is a bit prohibitive...So public transport and my wee set up should get me off for some trips...
I quite fancy a wee trip to Ben Nevis...But have to tell you...Though not a complete novice to hill walking(usually low level stuff)These past few years due to fitness levels and a dodgy hip I've hardly done any at all...
Not wishing to hold anyone back...I was wondering If I came along(subject to dates and shift pattern at work) would it be possible for me to just turn up to meet you..and maybe sit out the climb up the Ben..And maybe do some lower level stuff while you go off and conquer the mountain...If so I'd be happy to try and arrange time off if that suits you....

Plans are still a bit flexible. But it looks like a small group of us will be camping near Ben Nevis around Thursday 7th June until Sunday 10th June. Weather permitting, a few of us will go up the hill.
The best thing to do is email me - that way we can keep you informed quickly as plans develop. Post a quick reply here and I will then post my email (I don't want to just leave my email sitting on here for days.)
It would be nice to meet you (and Jim McCall if he's free).
Sorry Skip...Just out of bed (night shift) and only just seen your post...Best leave posting your E mail addy till Thursday when I'm off work and should be about on here at more acceptable times...
