Hiya, Julie says we are Legends, as we have survived gusts of up to 52 mph. Both tents survived yay.
Jill, hope you feel better.
My dog Nixy pinched Julie's bacon butty, while hrr back was turned. What a little thief haha

Thank you girls - Julie, Heather (and Lucas!) and Jill - for a most wonderful New Year celebration. I am home now but so sorry I had to leave LH. I could stay there forever - yes in the howling gales and torrential rain!!! It was a great experience and definitely not for the faint-hearted as was clearly evidenced by the fact that none of the men folk were brave enough join us! We did so well for visitors though! Geoff and his grandson Charlie on New Year's Day, Sharon and Stewey the day after, and Ann with Frankie the cavapoo (I'm not being rude - it's a dog!) yesterday. It was great to see you all. xx

Same here Julie! I have the fan heater that I had in the tent and it is so inefficient in my bedroom! Been having lots of cups of tea though. Couldn't be bothered in the tent because it meant opening the tent door to boil a kettle on the gas stove. Next time I am taking my little electric travel kettle!

Having an electric kettle does make a big difference Wanda. I bought a cheap kettle. Saved going out into the elements.
Mainly it boiled quicker.
That's the thing about being in a small tent, its easier to warm. Large tent in the colder months, it's harder to warm up. Lol hence why I went home for a second heater.
My vango Oregon 400 was easier to warm, which was non SIG, then my SIG Nevada M.

Heather

Hi Heather. I have a low wattage travel mini kettle I bought from Clas Ohlson for about £6 in a snazzy lime green which I have already used on holidays. I am also going to get an electric hotplate. Kampa do a 1000W one which will be ok for the 6amp EHU. As I read in one of the posts somewhere, why use gas if you have EHU. No fumes or naked flame so will be able to use it in the tent. Can't wait till the next time!

Your kettle sounds rather snazzy. That's all you need.
Electric hotplate sounds like a great idea. Your tent is too petite to have a gas stove inside, even I would cook outside. With weather like we had,it is not ideal.
I don't think I will take my halogen oven again, even though it was great. I have to be guaranteed at least 16amps to myself and not share and a smaller one to boot.

Found up the agency to nab some work. They can't believe I went camping hehehe

Heather you can roast a chicken in a ceramic (terracotta) flower pot on a gas ring. I don't see why it wouldn't work on an electric hot plate. You just have to be very gentle with the heat to start with so as not to crack the pot. I am going to try it next time.

Hahaha, leaving stuff in the tent is easily done. I went in after Lucas said it was clear, went in, to check, there was a light hanging up, bits on the floor and I still forgot to take down the support pole, hahaha as long it wasn't the car keys.
