Not so much a meet but we're camping at Dandy Dinmont in Blackford (between carlisle and gretna) august 25-28.
The idea bein we're getting married at Gretna on the 26th. However we currently have no witnesses so if anyone is the area and fancy doing the tourist thing and witnessing a complete strangers wedding please let me know! And equally if your staying at Dandy Dinmont feel free to come say hi, we have the bkue royal austin tent and a greyish colour mondeo :)
congratulations, enjoy your time at Gretna and the camping - long start of married years and camping to boot, who could ask for more- hope the weather in Scotland is kind to you x

That was our thinking tacobell... we camp regularly anyway and, upon looking at hotels and reviews in gretna itself, there are very few 2 bedroom suites and apparently it's not a great place to actually stay in so we figured we'd be much more comfortable in our tent on a nice site in the countryside and get a little holiday also.
Cboyer...
I shall make sure I report back!! The only downside I had found was the lack of campsites near gretna itself, but the site we're staying at looks nice. I have spoken to others who are staying in the lakes and travelling to the lakes on the day.
Was on a campsite in May where a young couple got married on the camping field itself....Guests and groom waited for the bride....As she proceeded up the field on the arm of her father...
Ceremony over...They...(Whole Wedding party) promenaded round the whole site led by a piper in a kilt...
We were camped in a wooded area and could hear them approach...And rushed up to the trackside to add our congratulations with a round of applause as they passed us...
Reception was held in a campers meeting hall and by the sounds of it they had a rare old time...
Guests were housed in the youth hostel...Bride and groom had separate Kata's (Tipi's) And I believe they spent their 1st night in a Kata done up with all the wedding stuff(Baloons etc)....
Lovely way to mark the day(IMHO) and I hope your day goes to plan and you have a lovely time...
Nowhere near you on the day so can't help on the witness front...But wish you every happiness in your life together.....

That sounds pretty impressive Jelboy! I'd have loved to do a bit more than we are but our families are 350 miles apart and both quite extended so trying to organise everyone into one place became impossible so we told the lot of them they were uninvited! Much more relaxed now!
