We made some friends through this forum but unfortunately they've moved away. So....
We are an older couple with a 14 year old daughter and a small dog. We only camp with C&CC on rallies because its so cheap but lately have found there aren't so many children around. If there is another family who do that kind of camping in Hampshire/Dorset and would like to meet up I would love to hear from you.
Not sure if this will be of interest to you and your family, but we are members of a small club called Pegasus Happy Wanderers (PHWCC), we have rally meets around the south region all within easy reach of Southampton and meet up once a month on average. As we are a club, we negotiate our pitch rates and currently pay £15 for a pitch with electric and £10 for a Non-electric pitch. Our membership fee is £20 per year, if you would like to know more have a look at our website at the following http://phwcc4.wix.com/phwcc or le me know via here. We have a couple of members who have children and several who have dogs.
Regards
Tony
I looked at the PHWCC last year and been contacted by the chairman and Secretary very recently. I think that there weren't many children camping with the club but they were hoping to encourage more families. I will have another look.
We also belong to another small club called New Forest Camping & Caravanning Association (NFCCA) which is a lovely friendly group but again rarely anyone to keep my daughter company. We only manage to camp with them once or twice a year but have a good time.
Thanks for taking the time to reply.
ps, When will they have this years sites list up? WE might pop along to meet up with you.
The sites list will hopefully be up very soon, as they have just issued them to us at the AGM. The first one is at Bashley on the 6th & 7th March. If the list does not appear on the website soon you can contact the secretary and I'm sure that they will be happy to send you a list.
Hi Homebird2003, we are about the same as you guys, looking for like minded caravaners in our local area as we find its mostly older couples without children, I've just started a new thread looking for any meets around here :-)

Hi, good to hear from you. We haven't been out much this year for one reason or another but are planning to join a C&CC meet at Scott's Haven 26th-28th June.
We don't really go to "proper" campsites although we went to Lytton Lawn for Easter.
Let us know when and where you're going to next and perhaps we can come along.
Aww yes we have looked at Lyton Lawn, how did it go? We got back today from Sandyballs near Fordingbridge? We bought a new caravan a couple of months ago, after not really using our current one for a while so I made it clear that we would be using this one a lot more! :-)

We liked Lytton Lawn but our pitch was a bit odd. We booked a fully serviced pitch which turned out to have a hump in the middle of it so it was difficult to level the caravan. The hard standing was very narrow and although we don't have a very big caravan we found the wheels were sliding off it. Facilities are very good though and we enjoyed the games room & table tennis. We would go again.
We have givenup with the c&cc. It was getting to the stage where private sites offered better value for a family of 5. Plus they don't cater for tents aswell as they should.
I agree that private sites are probably better for a family and that's why we don't use any of the C&CC sites but we enjoy rallying with them. We've just enjoyed a "children's meet" which had lots of fun and games for the children and a disco for kids and adults in the evening. The children were outside all day and had a great time. Admittedly it was in a rally field with no facilities apart from EHU if you wanted it but there were people in all sorts of units. As long as you have a porta potti you can join in.
