Hi all i'm Rob.
A newbie to the site (please be gentle)
I'm looking for other people to go camping with!

sure its nice to go alone but the conversation is a little one sided and there's nothing like putting the world to rights while drinking tea and listening to the crackle of burning wood with someone else,

Here's where it starts to sound like internet dating
I'm 32 and hopelessly single...
my ex partner hated even the thought of camping (her idea of 'roughing it' was falling asleep on the sofa) so i haven't been as much as i would have liked although i did take my son (he's 6) a year ago and he loved every second of it.

It would be so nice to meet someone else who enjoys the outdoors way of life. even if its just rigging the tarp to keep out of the rain on a day trip.

Well that's me!
surely there are others out there right?

Hi rob
Have you thought about joining the camping and caravanning club.
My sister is not young like you .but after losing her husband she wanted to still use her caravan . She has met a lot of people just for chatting . She also takes her daughters dog with her. She goes to Blackmore c&cc at Hanley swan or has her caravan stored there . She doesn't drive .
There are a lot of single people caravanning , camping and with motorhomes. All happy for a chat also the site managers are very friendly and chatty .
There are some single groups that meet up there sometimes but I'm not sure of their age.
Good luck .

Hi Rob,
If you don't mind going away in the cold, I am looking to try out my newly purchased van. It's just me and the dog. Public footpaths and a pub are important to me on a campsite. Be nice to have someone to share a take away with in the evening.
Wendy

Hi Rob,

Yes there are other solo campers out here in the internet! Made my first foray into solo camping 2 years ago and really enjoyed it, but I know what you mean about it being much nicer to share the campfire and a brew with in the evening.

And sometimes passing the time of day with someone at the sink isn't quite the same.

If you're planning a camping expedition you could perhaps share your rough plans on here and if someone will be in the same area at the same you could arrange to meet for a coffee/day trip/bbq/campfire evening?

hey everyone
thanks for the replies! it's nice to I'm not on my own out there.

I've had a crazy 2 months at work post Christmas and there's been a house move in there too, busy just doesn't quite cover it, so my apologies for the lack of response
I finally have some time now to reply and do a little planning.

I have decided on a hike this spring/summer all along the river Severn from the sea to source, travelling along the Severn way trail, stopping at various locations along the path.
I have lived by the Severn all my life and I've never once been to the source...
...this year it's happening!!

I also bought new tarp and sleeping bag.
I just need a hammock now...

Hi
Rob sounds great
Hope you enjoy it
I love camping on my own but as you say it would be nice to have company in the evenings so if any ones interested in meeting up in the summer Cambridgeshire/Norfolk/Suffolk areas give me a shout
Simon
