Have you grown younger? You were 47 in the other threads you have posted in.

Swanage is one of my favourite places but a weekend in July is likely to be very crowded. I generally camp mid week these days.

Which campsite had you in mind?

I've grown younger.. yes.. by 2 years!! i generally go to woodyhyde campsite in swanage.. do you know it? the owner is a miserable sod.. but i love the location next to the steam railway.. I'm going before the rush if the school holidays. then again in sep. t.

Woodhyde is a nice site, choose which of the 3 fields suits you.

Victor Meldrew (the owner) is amenable if you have any issues, due to the attractive cost of staying there, he does get some 'customers' who don't play fair.

I'm looking forward to pitching my tent there.

BTW Terry, what's your birthdate?

when do you normally go there james? the owner (lawerence i think) is ok.. strange sense of humour.. people don't know how to take him. the first field is the best i find.. (flatter) not tried the other 2 too hilly. T.

I have stayed at Woodyhyde twice but for me it is a little isolated...a long walk into Corfe and an even longer one into Swanage! I prefer to leave my car on site when camping and walk to places of interest.

I have stayed at Norden Farm at Corfe on a couple of occasions and caught the train into Swanage but my favourite site now is
Toms Field at Langton Matravers which is just 3 miles from Swanage...an easy walk along pavements or a beautiful but longer walk along the south coast path on the cliff tops...or a bus if you prefer.

They only take tents and campervans/motorhomes (no caravans).

i know toms field.. I've been past it going to swim in the carved out pool at dancing ledge.. your right he doesn't take caravans.. they can't fit through under the railway bridge! I've never seen the point in caravans.. I've got a mazda bongo, if you know what it is!

That's the case with Woodyhyde - there isn't a low bridge restricting caravan access to Tom's Field, just their (or possibly the council's?) choice.

Could be either as it is at the bottom of a cul de sac of residential houses and also the entrance is a bit restricted for manoeuvring caravans. However, they do take some pretty big motorhomes at times...and even Bongos at a push
