Curious. If its perfectly legal to be naked anywhere in the country, why was the man called the naked rambler by the newspapers arrested over & over again?
I have nothing against the lifestyle but its for warm climates. Its close to freezing here and snow is lying in some parts of the country today.
It is indeed legal to be naked in a public place in the UK but one has to be sensible. Ok on a remote beach or country area but not in a town. Which is why the loony naked rambler came unstuck.
There is a catch all law called conduct likely to cause a breach of the peace that
they get you on if you refuse to put your pants on when told to by a copper.
Best place for campers & caravanners to do naturism is at naturist campsites. There are quite a few in the UK & loads in southern France where we go most years.
British Naturism have legal guides for England Scotland and N Ireland which clearly explain the legality of public nudity. Unfortunately the gutter press and some Police Offices have still not got the message but things are changing.
Even during the winter months and lockdown BN have dozens of online events each month ranging from a virtual pub through to yoga and keep fit etc. Take a look at the above link and if you get involved you will be surprised just how your body confidence will improve no matter what shape or size you are.

I would love to . The lifestyle really apeals to me but as a lone female I think I would feel rather odd. I am normally a very confident person but that is when I am hiding behind clothes.
It's interesting that it is often said of naturism that it's a great leveller (when you don't have the clothes to hide behind). A great experience when the weather is nice, you should give it a try - you wouldn't feel odd; in fact you would probably feel more out of place with clothes on in a naturist environment. Most clubs allow day visits to allow you to "dip your toes in" as it were, but beware, once you have swum without the incumberance of a swimming costume you'll almost certainly never want to wear one again :-). Go for it - you won't regret it!

May I suggest you try one the naturist campsites listed (or the new BN Sunfolk site www.sunfolk.bn.org.uk which is possibly near you). You will be among friendly naturists, and quite safe. There will normally be no pressure to strip off at once. Being naked will soon feel the most normal thing in the world.
"Thanks for the encouragement guys. I have had a quick look at BN and will certainly check it out when I have more time."
I'm sure you will find in a great experience. You might find this interesting (and encouraging) too:
