Hi Sad Retired Man, I hope since your original posts you are now finding more company on sites, whether on your own or via the CMC meets you mentioned.
Recently I have rejoined both the Phoenix Club and the New Companions Camping Club. Both of these are for people who camp alone. Google them to find out more. I returned, last week from a very enjoyable 5 night New Year stay at Blackmore with the New Companions. I had a wonderful time! However there is no pressure from anyone at these meets: you can join in the fun if you want to, but if you prefer a bit of solitude, that's ok too.
As others have said, dogs are great ambassadors! They encourage other dogs and owners to be sociable, even in inclement weather. So your little dog should be a great social ice-breaker for you.

On a couple of trips away last year, Lake District in August, and Somerset in November, it struck me just how many solo Caravanners/Campervanners/Motor homers there were, must have been 30-40% of site at some times! Both sites were CAMC and no indication these were any kind of 'group' event, just regular campers on their own. And perhaps a larger number of women of 'a certain age' than you might expect.
If you solo camp, you are not going to stand out from the crowd too much, plenty of others doing the same! Only see a need to join a club if you seek the more guaranteed social company that brings.

DK168 Someone else told me there were videos of the NYE party on FB, however I don't do social media (except this type of site)so haven't seen them. I don't think anything would persuade me to join FB....
