I have found an alternative to the Brynawelon meet which was unfortunately cancelled:

The Sytche Caravan Site.

Situated approximately 400  yards from the centre of Much Wenlock and two hundred yards off the Telford to Much Wenlock Road.    It is close to an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and National Trust property.    The Ironbridge Gorge Museum and other historical sites are all with-in easy distance.

The field is about three and a half acres,  terraced,  is secluded,  has a very small stream running along the bottom of the field and the grass is mown regularly,  pets are welcomed as long as they are kept under control and are not a nuisance to other users on the site.

The cost per pitch will be caravans  £7 and tents £5 each per night all in, inc. EHU.   There will be no additional  charge  for awnings, extra persons etc.
BBQ's allowed,  all types of units are accepted.  No specific disability facilities but they can site caravans and tents adjacent toilets etc.  There is no site shop but it is only 10 minutes walk from the centre of Much Wenlock which has shops, cafes and pubs.   No play area for children but plenty of space.
As it is half term week some of us may like to stay on for a few days or even a week, this will be at the normal rate which is still only about £1 more per night.

Ratty will be putting up the registration pages very shortly.

looks lovely, but I can't make a firm booking yet 'cause of sister's surprise 50th birthday which I'm organising - if she goes away at half-term like she's threatening, then no problem! if I tell her she can't go away she'll want to know why -  all a bit of a muddle, really!

Mary, that all sounds terribly energetic. Hope you're going to organise the kids & dogs and take them rambling o'er hill and dale, and I can just sit and chill.

Weather will be ok, Jan, no wind or thunderstorms I promise. Unless someone eats too many baked beans.

Debby, encourage your Sister to go away then you won't have the bother of organising the party and you can come and chill with me.

Trouble is I've spent toooo many sundays in the tent and very few in church. I used all my "credits " up ordering the weather for Lindsey's wedding!

Looks like a lovely site, caz. Have you ever stayed there yourself or did someone else recommend it to you? MT

Not stayed there myself although have noticed it in passing. Marynov suggested it and it was one of half a dozen I contacted when we knew Brynawelon was cancelled.

Cheers! I don't know the area at all but have had to drive through it on my way to North Wales several times over the last year or so and thought it looked lovely. Don't know if I can toughen up enough to camp there in October though. Anyway, I've made a note of the name whatever happens this time round. MT

PS Does anyone know a website where you can look up eg what the weather in Much Wenlock is normally like in October?

Answering my own question, I've just found a page on the Met Office website which gives monthly average temperatures, rainfall, sunshine hours etc. Look here http://www.met-office.gov.uk/climate/uk/averages/19712000/index.html   MT

We have stayed there  The site is on a slope but it is on about 3 different levels, it's about a 10min walk into the village. There is no play park but there is plenty of room for the kids to play ball games away from the units. And for those that love walking the footpath goes from the site. You can order your Sunday paper to be picked up from reception.
