Jan P - I cannot leave Maddy in the car, she would kill me! - But as for the question, we have been to a few meets and normally take the dog with us. We always tie him up by the tent to stop him wondering, then in the evening, he just sites with us watching the fun, and eating anything people may chuck his way!
Poppy the dog goes everywhere with us. Now that she is used to camping we sometimes leave her tied on her extending lead a bit but we never go off site without her. Got to take her to see her friends or she visits them herself if given half a chance.
i can vouch for that after being woken by poppy trying to say to our dog - rogue good morning, once she had invited herself in the awning and had some breakfast (ROGUES!)she was quite happy and the pair of them settled down to playing with the kids and adults alike! she is so well known that even at home if poppies name is mentioned rogues ears pop up and starts looking for her!
Sands takes her long haired short wheel based rat (yorkie)with her wen we go camping but she ain't going to Settle or New Year because of the fireworks she is terrified of em

all the dogs we have had over the years have been camping with us mostly tenting and always settled in to it in no time, most of them see the car being loaded up with the gear and strait in to back seat ready for the off , the last two we had had loved the van and tent we never had them try to get out of the tent at night ,
