We're driving down to Cornwall from London right now, Wednesday 27th December, and I'm stunned by the amount of campervans on both east and west bound lanes of the A30 and A303.
Are people just returning from relatives, or using it as their daily vehicle, or are people camping?
You’ve only got “blustery”? A lot worse than that here in Scotland (advised not to travel) & houses in Manchester were damaged by what the news called a tornado.

We're on the south coast here, we had winds of 70mph plus.
I am off to camp at an adult-only site next to a pub that sells lots of their own ciders and perries in Herefordshire tomorrow returning on Tuesday 02 January 2024, can't wait!
The pub has activities on 30 and 31 December (and some food too), good job I booked my pitch ages ago in October 2023 when I was there as it is full now.

As well is two words!
How does a sage know everything about everything? or does he? or does he just think he does?
Remember, if you buy something you bought it, not brought it.
If anyone doubted why there is a 6m firebreak between pitches on reputable campsites, and why it should be maintained and not abused, then that should convince them!
Nearest fire station is likely Grange Over Sands, even allowing for it being a retained crew, probable there in around 10-12 minutes from the shout, and that is an all but a burnt out shell by then, nothing left to salvage! The speed of total destruction is rather frightening!
