Hi We now own a 1997 Ford AutoSleeper. We are doing a bit of a Spring clean but one thing is a problem. How to get the curtains down to wash them? In the rear area the track is out of sight. Any ideas would be very welcome.
Alan.
Need a bit more information. Ford is the cab / engine. We need to know the model of A-S. I had a 1993 Auto-Sleeper Clubman, but that's no help if you have another model.
PS there's a free Auto-Sleeper Forum too ("the Auto-Sleeper Motorhome Owners Forum ASOF) that you can join, if we don't come up trumps here.
Ok. Looks very like a longer version of our (previous) Clubman. We never managed to take off the curtains behind the bench seats / couch, as they’re behind something like a pelmet that we couldn’t remove. We didn’t use them anyway as the blind was more effective & you can drop the top several inches to let in the light first thing but retain privacy.
I’d suggest steam cleaning the curtains in situ (which is also how we also freshened up the seats as the previous owner had been a smoker.)
We rehung the cab curtains on brass hooks (after a very gentle wash) as the plastic hooks had got brittle and removed the back door one to line it with blackout curtain lining (again, after a very gentle wash, no tumble in case it shrank & it was quite fragile too) as it let in so much light.
Hopefully someone else will some more helpful advice.
Hi Fiona W many thanks for that advice, the cabin curtains came off ok and it looks and the bench seat area curtains do look as if they were fitted before the outer shell was put on. We intend to steam clean the bench seats anyway so it looks like a good idea to do the curtains at the same time. Thank you. Alan
