We used to love Blackpool. We almost bought a B & B up there a few years ago. We loved the Zoo, the Marton Mere camp site, the sea life centre, pleasure beach, tower, piers....the lot. It had something for all of us, and we were a very large family group (getting on for over 30 of us now). There was something for everyone. Even though I often stayed in the van, there was always something going on, trams going by, people dressed up being silly, making me laugh, horses and traps going up and down etc. I could sit and people watch for hours whilst the others were in the fair, the town, on the piers etc. It was easy for us all to get to. Then along came this 'no motorhomes on the sea front' rule, and shoved me to a car park with no view at all. I wasn't going to spend my holiday looking at other cars and nothing else. After that, we never went back, and there are now even more of us. We all loved it, but this destroyed it for us.
I appreciate your friends who are disabled may be able to find places to park, but are they all driving motorhomes, and have issues with getting out of it like me? Not all disabled folk are merely wheelchair users in a car.

Tough question - don't think it is right to exclude folks with BBs and MHs; just need to police it so that there's no overnight parking and perhaps a time limit on each stay; that time limit might be longer for BBs with MHs or campervans than for cars (say). I don't have a MH or campervan (I tent) but for sixteen years caring for my elderly parents who did have BBs, I know the pleasure they derived from just being able to see/hear/view others enjoying themselves and a bit of freedom was so precious. There is absolutely no joy being stuck in some town centre car park and the disabled should not be treated in such a way.
Having said that, the MH fraternity really have got to look at the behaviour of the small (sadly growing in my experience) group of owners/hirers who seem to think that because they've got a MH, rules don't apply. Even more depressing is that some BB MH owners don't consider other BB drivers. We have two disabled parking bays outside our island's only pharmacy and we've had a BB MH owner park there for over 10 hours blocking both bays. Whoever this person was, they did not give tuppence for any other disabled driver, resident or not, who might need to pick up medicines or other medical supplies.
I am not saying anyone who's posted on here would be so inconsiderate, in fact most posters have indicated their views on right or wrong.
Tragically, as with many areas of life these days, courtesy and respect for others has gone out the window!
