{never understood why the badge entitled you to free parking - unless it's to encourage use of car parks rather than street parking)

Hi Twooks.... I believe that blue badge holders are except from on street & some car park charges (depending on land owners & local authority rules) because when you have a severe disablility you don't have the option of parking free further from town and walking to your destination & it's very hard to carry items that you have just purchased to a cheaper more remote car park, as you may have balance problems, sticks, crutches or wheels to grasp.

If your vehicle is Tax exempt you can also apply for 20 vouchers from the Humber Bridge Board which entitle you to cross the bridge 20 times toll free in the tax exempt vehicle.
You would only be eligible for free road tax if you became disabled before reaching pension age.
The reason is that mobility allowance is only paid to people before retirement age. If they become disabled after that age then they get attendance allowance and therefore not eligible for tax exemption.
A lot of car parks and tolls are free to tax exempt vehicles and not just if you have a blue badge. Dartford tunnel being an example.

amazed about the toll road pass- just about to try and get 1 sorted. unfortunately sometimes i use my campervan and sometimes i use my car so i'm just going to have to use the camper more in the future!
i'm only a young one with one of these blue badges and you should see the looks i get off some people- they must think i'm using my nan's pass....still, i know i'm in the right so they can stare as much as they want
When I read the bumph, it said the pass was only applicable to the vehicle that had the Vehicle Tax Excemption certificate. How do you get an exemption cert for BOTH vehicles. ?
