Hi Ina these are the internal type that stick on........ er.......... don't stick on with suckers. Lost count of how many times I "stuck" them back on again. The screen is clean, do these suckers wear out or something? I am thinking of getting a set of external screens.

Sorry, I don't know about internal screens, we have external screens as in our opinion they are better than internal ones. Maybe the suckers do wear out, or perhaps you should wet them first.

External screens it is then.

Now where is my copy of MMM?

Hi Sooh

Hope you have more luck with your delivery date than us, we were meant to get our new Compass Castaway on the 14th, but Brownhills have lost all the first registration docs so it's just sat in the compound

mick

Hi Mick,

Our new motorhome is also sat at Brownhills waiting for us but fortunatley for us that is through choice rather than their incompetence! When we ordered the new 07 model we fancied at the Peterbprough show they told us theyhad one such model due to come into stock in mid to late June then after that they did  not expect to have any of the new models in stock u ntil October/November at the earliest due to the popularity of all the new 07 models. Now as we are so busy during the 6 weeks school holidays at our shop we just dont have time to use our motorhome during this time and so ideallyit made more sense to take deliveryin September and take advantage of the new registration plate so Brownhills suggested that they would hold on to the model that was due in for us u til September if we in return would be prepared let them have our Swift Kontiki in July so that they had chance to sell it during the summer when people tend to be more inclined to buy motorhomes. We agreed to this fair deal as it suited us and as soon as our Auto Trail arrived at Brownhills we took our beloved Kontiki in.

So thankfully Mick we know ours is sat waiting for us in Brownhills compound and a couple of weeks ago we went over to Newark and the salesman dealing with us took us to see it at their off site compound and we were chuffed to bits with it.

I hope we dont have trouble with all the documents etc and in fact what I might do now you have pointed out what has happened to you is start to chase things up in plenty of time so that by the time we are due to take delivery everything will be ready for us.

Hope you get it all sorted soon and fi ngers crossed you will soon be the proud owner of a new vehicle!.

Sooh

Many thanks for that, have googled 'Remis Blinds' and that's exactly what I was thinking of.

Reason I wanted to know is because after having some problems with our new van, and the supplier having taken quite some time to get things sorted, including the front cab curtains, which do not fit (not wide enough to cover the windows), they have agreed by way of a good will gesture, to fit an entire set of Remis blinds to the cab area   I call that good customer service!  Hubby and I are very pleased, and at least we won't have to hang things over the gaps, and can change in the main van and not in the shower.

Thanks for that mick!

Sara

Hi Sara, we have got the Remis blinds in our new Renault across the front only and they are great. We have curtains across the sides. I asked Autotrail why they did not fit the side ones and they said they were not much good. We met someone who had got them and  they said they were useless as they kept dropping out of the groves and they were having curtains. If I were you I would stick to the side curtains and just have one on the screen.

Well someone has to don't they or where else could all you lot go when you fancy a sunday drive out to window shop lol

Seriously though, I know they have a bit of a reputation regarding dissatisfied customers and we found that out to our cost with out last motorhome which we also bought from them. But to be fair, despite being rather slow and incompetent at times we always got things sorted out in the end and we could never fault the work that they carried out. However, it does annoy you when you have spent a lot of money on a motorhome and then find you have to wait weeks for spare parts or to get any warranty work done and I feel Brownhill's really do need to address their aftersales service or they will start to find that people will shop elsewhere which after reading about them so much on ukcs it sounds like a lot of folk already do.

I think Brownhill's problem is a definite case of being victims of their own success and I think sometimes they find it near on impossible to meet their deadlines and maybe they need to take a long hard look at where they are going.

Hi Mick,

7 thousand pounds worth of extras thrown in- wow now that is good.  But yes I agree with you and Brownhills do give a good part exchange and like they did with you, they offered us a good deal and much better than a lot of their competitiors plus they had the model we wanted due to come into stock too. Also, for us it is very convenient too as their Newark branch is only a short distance away compared to other dealers and we can be there in an hour and a half if we need to take ours in for any reason. I think in all fairness Brownhills do look after their customers but like I said in my previous post due to them being so busy they cannot always cope with all the demands on them and that's where their problem lies.

Some of the administrative staff seem quite incompetent at times and we were once waiting for several months for a particular part that had to come directly from Swift themselves and every time we rang Brownhills the staff in the parts dept blamed Swifts and said they were still waiting for Swifts to approve the waranty work and to send Brownhills the spare part we needed. They would promise to ring Swift to enquire what the delay was and as soon as they had an answer from Swifts they would ring us back (which they never did!) Anyway, so peed off were we in the end with all this tooing and frowing that we decided to contact Swift ourselves and the very helfpul and efficient lady I spoke to in their customer services department kindly told me that she would makes some enquiries and would ring me back. Within a short time she had rung back to explain that the work had been approved and the relevant part had actually been sent out to Brownhills several weeks previously! Brownhills wouldn't have it that this part had been sent to them but eventually once Swift themselves contacted them they managed to eventually locate the part and it turned out that it had actually been sitting on a shelf somewhere in their workshop or storeroom for weeks and nobody knew it was there! We were non too happy with this I can tell you but we did get a letter of apology and the warranty work that was needed to be done was then given top priority - but it was al so very frustrating and annoying I can tell you.

Despite the problems we encountered I am not anti Brownhills and we are more than happy with the quality of their work and their mechanics, we have always found have been excellent at their jobs but their after sales reputation does get some bashing and I can certainly understand why some people vote with their feet! Personally we are quite willing to use Brownhills again and we are happy to give everyone a second chance to prove themselves but god help them if anything like that happens again as our horns will definitely come out then
