No I am not a Dealer the above was the reply from my Supplying dealer for a Habitation check. I would suggest that it would cover a Damp Test Gas check and Water which would not take to long. Obviously companies who charge £200 are doing a lot more like checking the windows shut and that the Bed has not collapsed. This is also the check I needed to comply with my Warranty.I can only tell you what he quotes as in his reply. Also I suppose the size of the vans may vary the cost a little.
Most reputable companies charge around £90 +VAT for a "gas & electricity"-only habitation service. There is (in my humble but honest) opinion no way that a check costing £20 can be of any real use whatsoever. What do they do - switch things on, and if they work say "that's OK!" Still, you pays your money and makes your choice.............
If a company really would do a habitation check for £20, which still seems very dubious to me, it must be a fiddle just to get your book stamped and would then keep the warrenty on the conversion.
I notice he still doesnt mention the Dealers name that does this. Possibly because its fraudulently stamping the habitation service book. Only a full habitation service will keep the warrenty on your conversion, if Trigano knew this service was only a £20 job, they would NOT honour their warrenty.
Furthermore, if you sell the vehicle, prospective buyers will be duped into thinking that the habitation services have been carried out in full, because of the stamps in the book. When in fact they are being grossly misled.
I will speak to the Dealer first before providing his details. Please note most Dealers will only carry out Warranty work and Habitation checks on vehicles they have sold.I have been looking for a new Van out of 5 I checked 3 had not had the Habitation check done, why because Dealers were asking stupid money for it to be done. Yes I agree it is false economy when you come to sell.Let me ask you this how many reports do you see of owners who have parted with a lot of money for a new or secondhand van and part of the charge is a PDI.So please do not expect me to accept that 12 months later just because you have been charged anywhere around £150 that you have had much better service. Unfortunateley we are all in a trapped market have the service done by us or don't have an extended warranty. Is below what you know or what you surmise.?
