just be careful when you wildcamp that you are not too remote!
My sister and I have just 'done' the Outer Hebrides - got back on Sunday and during the trip managed to lock outselves out of the MH in a picnic spot on North Uist! eventually the AA organised a very nice man from Benbecula to come and get us sorted but had to endure an hour of standing around in the cold!!
Luckily, eventually, a very nice couple from Kent took pity on us and gave us shelter in their van and a cuppa while we were waiting when they decided to use the same spot,
lesson learnt the hard way, plus the nearest police help was in Stornaway on Lewis!!!! but the Lochmaddy pc did phone to check up on us, it cost me 2 bottles of wine, 1 for the garage man and 1 for the Kent couple
will post a summary of the travels later in the week
wild camped on Barra also and loads of places on the Uists and Berneray and small sites through out Harris/Lewis etc
have fun
Jane

there were some huuugggggeeeeeee artics on the bigger ferries i.e. Oban to Barra and Harris to Skye but as Jax says check on the website and remember that the ferries between Barra and the Uists and Berneray to Harris are smaller types. I was very impressed with the ferries and the organisation although my sis was not too happy with the poor sheep packed into the lorries
I have put reviews on here for the following sites;
Shell Bay, Benbecula
Shawbost
Laxdale, Stornaway
Uig bay, Skye,
Kinloch, Dunvegan, Skye,
Sligachan, Skye
Lomond Woods, Bannoch
we also stayed at Minch View campsite, Harris (ok), and Faugh Head farm nr Armathwaite, Cumbria
We wild camped on Barra and at Grenitote on North Uist,
Jane
