 sounds a great idea, very similar to the france passion scheme, which is a great scheme. £30 doesnt seem excessive - remember the guy must be spending a lot of time and effort speaking to pubs, finding pubs etc. for every one he signs up i assume there will be a fair number that arent interested meaning time & money wasted on phone calls, letters or whatever. and as said earlier, if he published a list of the pubs participating then i assume a lot of people would contact the pub direct, so his efforts have mafde him nothing. the only downside i agree is where the pubs are and what type of pub they are. but i think its probably worth the 30 quid to find out - could be a waste of money, but on the other hand could be money well spent & a possible big saving over the year.

I think it is a good idea and I would have no objection to paying the subscription fee.

We are going to Cornwall and Devon in June and it would be ideal to have a stop over at a pub (now my electrics work and the leisure battery holds a charge!).

Beats parking next to lorries in a service station.

I do agree you need to know more about the members though,they could be grotty pubs in sh**ty areas,places where you would not rather spend the night.

Go on then who is going to be the first to spend their £30 and let us know what the pubs are like?

I nominate Big Brian,will you second that Sue?!!

i have joined !  seems to be just as it describes, i have clicked on several counties and there are a number of pubs in each, all giving info as to size of van accepted etc. i know of a couple of the pubs and they are decent, not back street boozers by any means. take a chance on it, the more that join and use the pubs the more pubs will join up too - well i imagine so anyway.

I've joined well worth a gamble, even if I did loose my money,
I'm fed up with paying high prices just for the privilege of parking my van overnight when I don't need any services.

It's a good idea I only hope there will be enough uptake to provide the inertia to make the site successful

We used to run our own pub which had a small static campsite and river moorings. We always offered free overnights for the moorings on the proviso that people used the pub facilities. No club membership necessary.

Camping in the car park was a different issue as we were not insured for overnight stays. We used to have rallies/meets but these were always organised by groups who were members of ACCEO, which is the association of Caravan and Camping Exempted Organisations which meant they could issue a certificate to allow them to camp legally and with insurance.

However, if an individual campervan owner asked to stay overnight we used to let them stay free as long as they ate in or used the pub, but this was purely informal and we would not have expected them to have paid to join any group.
