Hi, I found a Ford Transit (Grey Engineers Van) at the B.T Fleet Sales. With 53000 on the clock and paid £3000 for it. My intent was to convert it to a motorhome. I did the convertion in 3 months and have used it since without any problems what-so-ever. With £15000 to spend I would first look at BT Fleet Sales. Can post picks of my van if required and the convertion cost less than a £1000 all in. Best regards to all.

Out of curiosity how dangerous is HHO?  I believe it is very flammable, is that the case?

It is very flammable the same as petrol is,but it burns cleaner and more efficiently,if you make a HHO generator with all the safety units I.E.intake breather/one way valve to direct any eccess gas build up (but this is very very rare)/bubbler/anti flashback unit/inline fuse/illuminated dash switch, they are as safe as just useing petrol or LPG and what ever increase you get in MPG say 20% your emissions go down by 20% as 20% of the exhaust gases are just turned back to water.

I was thinking about trying one of these until i read the bit about you NEED this tuning box.

Looks like a couple of resistors and a couple of variable resistors, Site says you cannot get an MPG improvement without them.

People sell these on Ebay as performance boosters. Charging upto £30 for a simple resistor, You replace the air temp with a fixed resistor that fools the engine into thinking the air is cooler than it really is. Improving economy or power.

Not going to even bother testing it now, Did you also read it requires distilled water?

New to this but i think i would like to build a camper using a new van i have a budget of 15000 is it possible ?.I'm a airframe fitter by trade so i have a skill base.

lots of advice please.

Hiya mate

I've just converted a Peugeot boxer 2.8 from a standard van into a fantastic motorhome.like you I have a reasonable skill level which does help. My advice to you is plan out the project in full before starting, and my advice would be to build actual size units / cupboards / toilet cubical etc with a selection of cardboard sheets and boxes to get a feel of what the layout will be like, I did this and it worked a treat.

The estimated cost of all the necessary items you require will be around £4k that should cover you for most things required but shop around as you will find a big difference on some items.

One other thing to bear in mind is that you will need a good selection of power tools, and I would recommend a decent table saw.

Be patient and take your time and you'll be OK

Regards
Steve
