i have decided to go for one refillable and keep one of regular bottles with manual change over

with all the the advice you have given me im am confident to do it myself

Go for the Gaslow bottles. Some sound advice given in previous posts regarding these. The gas can be purchased throughout most of Europe, just search the web before travelling for filling stations.

I have had mine for quite a few years now, and never a problem. Saves all that lifting of bottles in and out of the locker. They are accepted on the Eurotunnel, because they only fill to 80% capacity.

I returned yesterday from 3 months touring France/portugal/spain i had 2 x 13 kg gas low bottles fitted earlier this year. I travelled both ways by eurotunnel they do a physical check that your bottles are turned off at the top valve . I had no trouble fefilling in france and portugal but spain was impossible ,very few outlets and not accesssable for motorhomes mainly taxi access.

We used very little gas when the weather was fine but europe is pretty cold this year and heating uses it up at a fast rate.

If i had my time again i would fit one gas low bottle and have a separate bottle on another regulator which could be changed abroad to fit the bottles available

thanks placeboy the thing that worries me is having to use the heating a lot we are going to spain early feb for 6/8 weeks and have only two 6kg  bottles should be ok if it is warm

i had decieded to go the way you sugest with one gaslow and one regluar bottle and if desperate buy a local gas bottle and pigtail

When we were in southern Spain we did not use the gas central heating or hot water. We used a 750kw oil filled radiater which kept us warm enough and a low wattage electric kettle for hot water plus the facilities for hot water in the shower blocks.

Repsol are the big gas suppliers in Spain but Cepsa are trying to get into the market and giving out bottles without deposit

We are going back to Spain in feb for a couple of months would recommend the Almeria region as its supposed to be the driest area in Spain, have a look at the campsite at caba de gata , costs about 9 euros per night over 30 days and is a nice friendly site and not too cramped on pitches

Who says it shouldnt be used with Dometic fridges ?

I ask because my fridge made by Dometic has just failed.

I would have thought the gas burner would be ok with most mixes of gas as its only a heating eliment for the frigeration unit which in my case has leaked and they are not refillable.
