the post relates to campers n m,homes. not to mpv,/ mini buses . i have been involved since the early 1970s in the design n construction of conversions .also in construction of one off vehicles . the rules on camper requirments are available from your local dvla office. its your choice if you want seatbelts in the back but i was only stating that campers are excempt ,so any insurance company knows the rules and should not refuse a claim . i have never been asked how many seats have belts nor ever told an insurance company either. i have been insured by saga and was not asked . it would be nice if a proper seat belt fixing requirment was laid down but as its not we have to guess the fixings. multivans etc are required to have belts. remember hardly any vehicle manufacturer makes m,homes they are convertions from vans /minibus shells. i specialized in vw,s so do have lots of knowledge of vw,s
Not starting an argument here Alan & what you say is perfectly correct but you know as well as I do that a 'VW camper' can mean just about anything. You see campers on ebay claiming to be 'Westfalias' when obviously they are not. Anybody with no knowlegde of VW campers could be unwittngly giving their insurance false details & then they would not be covered for anything.
It depends whether the VW in question is actually a campervan/motorhome or not or technically still a panel van or bus, complicated still further by the fact that I would guess there are now more recently(in the last few yrs)imported lhd 80s VWs with UK plates than rhd's imported from new so there will be no record of what these lhd vans originally were.
look at the chassis number it tells us everything we need to know. it would be wise if most camper owners visited their dvla office and asked for an official definition of m,home requirments . i was given a how to import a vehicle into great britain leaflet. ref:P15 ::. on page 30 is a dpt. transport definition of a motorhome. its very informative , i do understand the difficulty of getting info but i have found it very usefull to get to know your local office staff. mine know if i turn up it will be with a list of nearly unanswerable questions and refer to swansea for answers ,with persistance they do turn out to be very helpfull. for seatbelts try your local traffic examiners office, they can let you have the rules on construction n use , too big a job to post here . always ask you dont find out if you dont ask .cheers

Well yes, we have all seen it, its been there long enough. This thread relates to seatbelts in the back of VW T25 campers.
I suggest you read the second sentence in the original post - and a bit less sarcasm might not go amiss. Obviously the OP hadn't seen it, regardless of how long it's been there.
I have read the op. For it to relavent one first has to establish whether the vehicle actually is a motorhome or campervan, I was pointing out that this is a problem associated with with T25s where often people believe that little more than a panelvan with a matress in the back constitutes a 'motorhome'
If you read the op's other threads on the forum you will conclude he is new to T25 world so will need pointing in the right direction.
I wasns't being sarcastic. It is(as they say)a VW thing, you wouldn't understand!
