Tried it over the last 700 odd miles in a Ford 2.4 litre diesel motor home with 11k on the clock and running on Shell diesel only.

Do not notice any real difference at start up, no smoke either blue (from the 2-stroke oil) or black (diesel), (then it never has blown any even when relativley cold), but it definatley runs quieter once at normal operating temperature running at 50 to 60 mph.  I'd reckon that it took at least 50+ miles on the first tankfull with 2-stroke before there appeared to be any difference in the engine noise level.  It also appears to be quieter and a bit smoother at idle (once warmed up).

As yet not seen any appreciable difference in fuel usage.

Also used it in my wife's Skoda Superb with the 130 BHP VW Passat diesel engine.  She normally only uses supermarket diesel, which to me seemed to make what was a very quiet engine noticably noisier.  I would say there is a marked decrease in engine noise level (using 2-stroke with supermarket diesel) The engine runs very sweetly on Shell and Esso.  According to the trip computer it would appear to be giving around an extra 3 to 5 mpg.  My wifa also said the engine seemed quieter and she was and still is unaware I put 2-stroke in the tank.

Can you tell me what kind of two stroke to buy. I have some outboard oil, but that seems very specialised.

When using 2-stroke oil in diesel it is advised on most discussion groups / forums to use a semi-synthetic oil with a JASO rating of FB or better with a low ash content.  The advice is not to go for a fully synthetic 2-stroke oil and not just on price.

I am using semi-synthetic 2-stroke oil with a JASO rating of FC, from a local garden supply store at a cost of £3.99 / litre and used in a ratio of 200:1 (400ml of 2-stroke oil to 80 litres diesel).

If you type "2 stroke Oil in Ddiesel" or some such combination into Google, there are many discussion groups / forums on this subject.

I know this is an old topic but I just wondered if any of you have updates of how you are getting on with using 2 stroke oil in your diesel.

I'm wondering if I should give it a go in my 1.3 CDTi Combo which has just ticked over the 168,000 mile mark.

Hi every one, I have ran 2 stroke oil in my MPV it's a 1.9 TD , I found it ran a lot smoother and quieter and I seemed to get a better fuel mileage. Is got 133,000 miles on the clock so as far as I'm concerned it's avantageuse in older engines . I,m going to start putting it in my MH which is a 2.8 JTD with 20,000 on the clock, the 2/ oil i used was just just bog standard oil none synthetic, so all i can say is it works for me.
