As to the legality of towing with an A-frame, it is legal....end of story, please see my post entitled the big a-frame debate.

The firm I work for (Leisurepower) are the northern fitting agents for Car-a-tow(Amongst other things).

If you mail me, I will gladly give you some addresses nearer to you of reputable dealers and fitters of such things, and would be glad to help you with (Free) advice.

I am not hawking products in here, we are all avid caravanners and motorhomers, and will help the community where possible.

This is why I will post no direct links to our site.

Nick at leisurepower.co.uk

This my e-mail address.

Happy towing.

Carol, have a look at the link below, I have not used them as yet waiting for Fiat to resolve Reverse judder before I have one fitted , But I have had a quote from them ,which after buying and fitting many tow bars to many of my different vehicles,I think is value for money seeing as they make and fit them at their site, e mail them for a quote,  ( I have nothing to do with the said firm)  Corky

Thanks for your replies, I've bought a Bantam trailer now as well as my Smart car as I really wasn't sure what to do about an a-frame. Other half decided to go with the trailer to be on the safe side.

Still got to get my towbar sorted though, I'll phone Towtal on Monday, Corky, and hopefully get a good quote. Not picking up the motorhome until Tuesday (about time too!) so it'll be too late to do anything for the Whitsun holidays as we're going away for the week.

Carol.

Hi John,

Is that a towbar for a motorhome?  Just had a look and can't find much under 'motorhome towbars' .

Hi Carol, our motorhome is based on the new Fiat high top van,  so I had no trouble fitting towbar to it. I suppose it would have to be a different tow bar for a coach built. If you type in witter tow bar kit on ebay you can ask the seller  any questions that you have.

Hi, corrie, we haven't got an alko chassis so no good to me. Thanks anyway.

Just found a company local who can do me one for £350 all in! Phoning him tomorrow to book him.

Picked our van up today, it's gorgeous.  It's got a diesel heating system - Webasto 3500- anyone got any experience of this?  Are they economical to run?

Carol.

Hi, it's a C.I.Cipro 55 2005.  Just queried the heating on another post as we were wondering what it's like to use.  I've googled it and sounds quite good, supposed to be really efficient, especially for the winter months.

This is our first motorhome so we're hoping to use it all year round, unlike our caravan, which we found we were only using 4-5 times a year.

We had a caravan for a few years before getting the motorhome I suppose there are pros and cons but its been good for us we love it .To start we wouldnt have gone to Portugal with the caravan or been able to wild camp there .not having the car to get about with isnt a problem if we want to be somewhere we take the van or walk /bus.We also take the dog so walking is a must anyway. And France is superb with all the aires some are really lovely spots..Last year we were at home only 3 months looks the same this year.Lovely to be retired .....

Oh you lucky girl!  I'm taking voluntary redundancy end of august so we'll have a bit more chance to get away then - we both work full time at the moment.  We've bought a smart car and trailer to get around for when we have long stays on sites but intend to try wildcamping too.. We'll take our 2 mini schnauzers with us too - that should be an experience - they're only two and a half and like naughty teenagers!!
