You sound just like us Dyson. First we wanted the mid lounge with single side seat and table and two bench seats. We decided to hire one with that layout. It's great for having a table there but we found it difficult to get comfy in the evenings when we just wanted to chill out.We then decided to go for an end lounge but having viewed a few we decided against that as the drivers seat and passengers seat couldn't really be used as extra seats if we had visitors.Still like the end lounge though. In the end we settled for the front lounge with the two long side seats and end kitchen.Suits us and up to now we love it.(so does our little dog).

Ok, update time, we have now viewed just 6 vans (private sales) and a dozen or so sitting on the dealers forecourts...............

At the moment I have totally surprised myself by being quite taken with a 2005 Rapido (Fiat, Ducato) 746F 2.3 - With a FIXED BED!!!! - Never thought that I would even consider this, it sleeps 3 but only has the 2 seatbelts (rear seats are side facing)

This is absolutely fine for myself and Daughter (20 - so no child seatbelt rules) but on the odd occasion when Mum wants to come along one of them will have to travel without a seatbelt  - I believe that the ruling is that lap belts are frowned upon in these seats and that it is safer to travel without them (have read the thread and everyones opinions - but believe that the official line is that as far as safety is concerned the lap belts are not a good idea)

So, I have a dilemma - do I purchase the Rapido and travel with either Mum/Daughter in an unbelted seat or do I just keep looking  I wonder how many of you travel with unbelted passengers??

I suggest you speak to a motorhome insurer before you buy, I think a modern vehicle has to have belted seats for all passengers, ie 2 belted seats so only 2 people can be legally carried. I might be wrong, but a phone call to an insurer will tell you for certain.

Read the 'Rear seatbelts' 'sticky' thread above this one, you will see it could be a grey area.

Thanks Tentz - I have read that thread. Govn' guidelines mean that I can carry an unbelted passenger in a seat as the van is designated 3 berth, what I was trying to ascertain was whether I would be happy with an unbelted passenger. I have given this a lot of thought and have decided not to buy this particular van - would not feel comfortable driving unrestrained passengers (incl. the dog)

So, the search goes on......................
