We have a 2002 Golf we purchased new on VW's "Long Life Maintenance" routine. Whilst we kept it serviced at the supplying dealer they did indeed reset the computed service interval device, and typically it came up at between 16 and 18K intervals but all over longer than 12 months. However when we transferred servicing to a new Skoda dealership that was set up in the neighbouring village struggle as they can, they cant set the LongLife routine and the vehicle comes up at exactly 12 months to the day.
Unless your vehicle is used for very frequent short journeys then I cant see why your requiring a service at such a short time period and mileage unless:
1) they never reset it to the equivalent of VWs LongLife.
2) they never used the correct oil; the engine is evaluating the oil as part of the computers decision making so the right oil is essential in Vws case.
3) the computer or its sensors are defective.
My questions to the dealer would be structured on, "which of these are the cause and what are they doing to cure it"?
