We are caravaners and have been thinking about changing to a MH. Pretty much decided NO. The MH to give us the space we feel we need would be at least 7.5 mts long. At that length it would most likely be over 3500 kgs with potential DVLA problems at 70. We found that in all MHs space is lost at the front forward of the front seats. This lost space is greater than that lost in a van via the fore hatch and tow hitch.
We found that with most of the sites we visit another vehicle is desired if not essential. We also realised that for the price of a 7-8 mtr MH you can buy almost three caravans for very similar money. However, we might consider a 5 th wheel with one or two slide outs. This we feel is a favourable compromise giving us the space we need to support a 75/80% full time life. The only MH we've seen which we liked and fitted us space wise was an 8 mtr American but at 5500 kgs with a 7.0 litre motor albeit with LPG still only got 13/15 mpg. So it's the continued tin shed for us, unless SHMBO knows better
