clarzier, the only example of thieves stealing a motorhome fitted with a demobiliser I have heard of was shortly after a service when the owner left the keys with the garage and its assumed that an employee cloned them. Possible?
Also I still dont understand why you cannot track the tracker on your computer/smart phone. I understood one should be able to. Or if you cannot then why cannot the company that you pay an annual maintenance fee track it? Why are you dependant upon the Police? Are they not tracking it because they expect your tracker company to do so? Sorry to keep asking the same question but the answers are important to those thinking of fitting a tracker.
Davie, there is no option with this particular type of tracker to use with my smartphone. The tracker that was sold to us was maintain by tracker to which you pay an annual fee. Whether there are different types I really don't know as this was what came when we bought the vehicle. The particular tracker we had that came with the vehicle and not something I asked them to fit is activate once a theft is noticed and a crime number is obtained by the police. The tracker signal is audible in every police car and helicopter in the country and also tracker have signals and masts throughout the country. I've been told by tracker themselves that they work similar to mobile phone signals in that if the vehicle is in a remote area there is every possibility that the signal will not work. We have been having motorhomes for over 20 years and I have never had one damaged or stolen, this is my 6th motorhome. All my previous motorhomes have been alarmed and other security systems and never have they been stolen or damaged. The 1st one I have with a tracker has been stolen. I think that speaks volumes......
Sorry still not clear. If the tracker was activated why has vehicle not been located. Do you mean the thieves managed to disable the tracker so the vehicle was not tracked after the theft?
The thief who stole my motor home stole the petrol cap first
it just so happens the key number is on the barrel thank you Fiat.
Get a new key and they drive your motor away
I purchased a separate after market cap on the next van
not all immobilisers are thief proof you need separate devices to delay the would be thief.
Disc locks
Pedal locks
fuel pump isolation
battery isolation
fuel tap
a good loud alarm for starters and drive way posts
Mines Renault traffic based front wheel drive 2.1 diesel n it's great for up to 2 people
Looking for both driveshafts right now n a gearbox or engine and gearbox complete- at moment it's not moving but engines fine and when I put into gear I can move a tiny bit forward or back but if I left clutch to past th biting point it stalls - both front wheels are locked and will only move as described very little.
I broke down on m25 and had to b rescued on back of a wagon by arc but they weren't interested in telling me whether it was gearbox or driveshaft. - so I need to know and don't know anyone in Elstree where she's parked? Anyone got any thoughts or advice
Thanks Jack - my trouble now is to match a gearbox to th engine?
It's a 2.1 turbo diesel 1984/91 I believe - prob is its a 4 speed box and I also don't know how to identify engine for parts- any help anyone please-
Oh n I really am sad to hear about your motorhome Clarslier - I would be putting photos of it all over forums and Facebook etc to give it as much publicity as possible along with the reg n engine number and the VIN NUMBER AS THIS IS HARD TO REMOVE.
I KNOW MINES AWAITING REPAIR BUT I HAVE BECOME EMOTIONALLY ATTACHED TO HER AND WOULD BE FOLLOWING UP ALL LEADS TO HELP WITH ITS RETURN TO YOU.
GOOD LUCK AGAIN!!!!!!!!
Tracker describe their system for motorhomes as:
Patented VHF technology that can track stolen caravans even when they are concealed in lock-ups or underground car parks
Unique tracking that is not affected by criminals’ GPS/GSM signal jammers
Motion sensor to detect unauthorised movement
Nationwide support from all UK police forces
Tracking coverage throughout the UK, France, Spain, Poland, Italy, Holland and Luxembourg
Sounds good; but in in this case proved to be useless.
The op stated tracker was activated at 9.30am but does not make it clear why vehicle was not located. Was the signal lost again? Presumably it would be possible for thief to locate tracker inside vehicle & remove/destroy it, maybe that is what happened?
