That is a water connector that is intended to connect direct to your plumbing. Its not meant to fill an onboard water tank. The idea is that you have water container like an aquaroll outside & pump plugs into that. Square bit plugs in & other end goes into external water container. the brass contacts supply power to pump. This is the attachment you need or something similar.

You then need an external water container, pump is submerged in water. Turn a tap on inside, pump operates & pumps water straight through to tap. These are normally fitted to caravans not motorhomes.

As standard a motorhome will have on onboard tank & ordinary filler. Is there still a tank on yours or has somebody removed it & you have to use outside tank? Or is this in addition to tank & you have another filler somewhere?

P.S. I've just been on to the Explorer website and found this:

"Explorer Group has teamed up with industry specialists,
Whale to create an all-new pressurised water system. Connect
directly to mains water supply, auxillary water tank or Aquaroll®,
automatically topping up the on-board water tank without the
need for a manual change over - with the added benefit of an
automatic shut-off when full."

Be careful if you just replace the filler the system will not be pressurised and the the water pump will not pump water to the taps. There may also be a solenoid valve which also will prevent the onboard tank from filling. This type of system is quite common on motorhomes I had similar on the compass avantgarde and my new bailey. might be easier to just buy submersible pump and top up tank when required from external container.

ah ok...hymmmm i wonder why they used this on MH`s surely just a simple filler would have been better?

I have a long pipe that connects to a tap its like a flat blue hose around 5 mtrs long. This is the only means i have of filling the tank.

Ive only just acquired the MH and i can just see problems using this type of system for filling the tank

I might experiment and remove the filler carefully and top up the tank without this inlet and see what happens...if it causes problems i`ll just leave it be

I know that the water goes straight to the Trauma Ultrastore waterheater from the onboard tank so maybe this has something to do with the system being pressurized?

Does seem a strange idea to me Dave. And where to store the water carrier/aquaroll etc in your Autoquest?

Noticed that some carriers have a mains powered pump built in btw.

Hopefully another forum member has found a way to simplify things?

We never have this problem with wine.

Oh..so with this set-up, the whole of the water system needs to remain in pressure then?..and not just the section after the pump?

How does that work, surely the tank will have a vent?..or an overflow?

If it is too much messing about to alter all the bits that'd need altering, could you just fit an additional separate filler, with it's hose feeding  down into the bottom of the tank?(below the water line).

Would that work? ..can you even get to the top of the tank?(I thought ours was under-slung?..maybe it wasn't....)

As these systems never seem popular with MHers, someone, somewhere must have sorted a neat, tidy, (hopefully easy and cheap!)way around them by now.

(..and NO!...I don't mean by just carrying an aquaroll  )

Is there not an Elddis/Compass forum/owners club where you could probably get some first hand info?

Agree pepe - very curious!
Every MH we have had the water tank is 'open', the pump itself then takes water from the tank and effectively pressurises the pipework to the taps and the hot water boiler.

Why should the simple life of camping become so complicated! I still yearn for my younger days with rucsac and small backpacking tent! (... sometimes ... Unless it's raining!) 😨

we have a similar system on our Autocruise, there are 2 ways to use it, you can plug in the hose and then attach it to a tap, turn on the tap and when the tank is full switch it off, remove the hose and stow it, the hose is not intended to be left attached all the time, the second way is to fill the tank from a container, for this you plug in the submersible pump (you're obviously missing yours) the pump starts and sucks water from any container into the tank, you don't need an aquaroll, I have a 10 litre collapsible bottle for when I fill up this way, you could use anything that the pump will fit into

I should have said the pump keeps going until you unplug it, it is not intended to be left on all the time

As Markh 1 says
I have the same system fills from the tap better than having to hold or jam a pipe in the normal round tank filler I had on my autotrail.
This block snaps into place and fills the tank at the same rate until the tank is full and overflows underneath the van no water flows from the filler.
its easy to replenish the water in the tank if you stay on site with the awning out and steadies down and don't want to move.
just plug in the submersible pump and it works until you unplug it. I do use a aqua roll if staying sometime.
Not intended to be a pressurised system.
