One thing I would look into is getting a gps collar for the cat just in case it goes walkabout. We use one and it's accurate to about 5 metres with the map showing on a smart phone, tablet or laptop.
Battery life is about 24 hours when it's on continuously but you can usually set them to track every 5 or 10 minutes which gives about 48 hours.
Used one with our Burmese and it works very well. Unfortunately it doesn't let you switch off the early morning yowling.
Sorry not checked the site for a few days. GPS collar we use is a French version called Weenect. Works very well and although it looks fairly big we've tried it out on our half Siamese which has a smaller neck than our Burmese and it doesn't seem to bother him.
Interesting at home as well as when we have been away. Always assumed our half Siamese didn't stray far away from the house (just the surrounding gardens)
GPS showed he travels quite a long way ( 1/4 mile) to some very large gardens which he can reach without crossing any roads.
Surprising thing is just how quickly he gets there. Sometimes less than 2 minutes.
Ours rarely goes out, he Pops out, eats grass, comes in & throws up on rug or carpet - never on the laminate or tiles where it would be easier to clear up!
