The chap just wants a CD player in his bus, as is fitted as standard in virtually every caravan and motor-home sold today, this does not make him a hooligan, give him a break.

I take your point as to the use and effectiveness of these devices and would happily use something else but single DIN CD unit is the norm. I suspect the demographic of new van buyers are older persons hence the digital age of smaller, lighter, cheaper, less power consuming devices has not yet arrived in the leisure vehicle world.

I do not understand your exploding battery concerns, all leisure vehicles have leisure batteries, as far as I am aware exploding ones are not an issue despite the appalling wiring in some if not most leisure vehicles. Any battery explodes when shorted, the chemistry and physics dictate this.

To have witnessed three exploding then you were either very unlucky, working with incompetent people, or working in an environment that with poor safety procedures.

I thought that I had finished on this thread but I am not prepared to let your remarks go unchallenged.

Please read the thread carefully. Where have I stated or implied that the OP is a hooligan? As for "give him a break", I have made one reply to the OP, my other posts have been in reply to Capt Lightning and now to yourself, using the quotes feature to indicate this.

I did however state that a person or persons playing music, on a campsite, loud enough to affect another's enjoyment was unsociable behaviour. A Google search of 'noisy campers' returns 52200 results some of which are links to this and other forums. So there is a problem.

You disparage my comments on exploding batteries. A Google search for 'car battery exploding' returns nearly 2 million results. Here's a link to an article that explains clearly how this occurs https://www.lifewire.com/dangers-of-exploding-car-battery-534782

You say it doesn't happen to leisure batteries in motorhomes. Our survey said... 107000 results for search term campervan battery exploding. The first page has links to the forums of Uk motorhome magazines. I havn't read them but maybe you should.

You say I'm very unlucky to have witnessed this happening at work. NO. Three times in ten years given what the batteries were used for is quite low. Or it's poor safety. NO. The company had ISO 9000 Series Accreditation   was regularly inspected by the company's insurer and by HSE/ Factories Inspectorate and had the requisite Health and Safety policies. Incompetency, I don't think so and whilst on that subject, what exactly is your and Cpt Lightning's competency in automotive electrical wiring?

As for the standard of wiring in motorhomes, is that something to be complacent about given the price.

You appear to be under the impression that the higher the number of google hits for a given term is a proof of concept. There are an infinite number of returns for Alien Visitation. I rest my case.

You blatantly implied that by fitting a CD player the OP may cause antisocial behavior and should use headphones so that people like you are not disturbed.

As for me, well I am close to retirement now and head a division of the largest supplier of automotive electrical parts in Europe. I have developed electrical distribution systems for the majority of the major OEMs and have been involved in more test and validation of automotive systems than I can remember. I have also contributed to the writing of national and international wiring and electrical systems and have presented at the SAE, look it up on google.
I currently specialize in hybrid technology, specifically battery technology and E Machines.

"Three times in ten years given what the batteries were used for is quite low." No, this is appalling. No usage testing or indeed failure of an energy management component should cause a battery to explode, however they are used. Causing an accidental explosion every 3 years is negligent.

What a fuss just because someone wants to fit a CD player, how many of have used the cab radio when on a site? I know it’s not just me.

What would happen if when arriving on site we were asked to disconnect our radios, gag and tie up our kids, muzzle our dogs and only talk within the confines of our mh?

I am sure the original poster would appreciate some constructive advice on how to go about this without it causing offence to all involved.
