I think choosing a motor home layout etc is the hardest of all. You have to balance living in it, travelling in it with seat belts etc, using it on narrow roads and then parking it. All those impact on the layout/size etc.

A caravan layout is much simpler. All you have to do is live in it and have a car big enough to tow it.

With living space you have to fit a house inside a little box. Sleeping, lounging, eating, cooking, washing, dressing, toilet, storage. All those take space and having generous space for one, such as fixed bed, will reduce the space for the others.

As well as finding a good floor plan for it, you need to consider how spacious or cramped it feels. High items such as wardrobe and washroom etc divides space and can make it feel cramped. A fixed bed may dwarf other spaces.

Then consider moving around inside especially with young children. A door at one end with children having to pass down a narrow corridor while you are cooking in a centre kitchen could even be dangerous, but at best very undesirable.

Also consider wet weather. Kids playing video games or painting etc whatever they do and you watching TV or reading.

Good luck with your search.
