if you are looking for a bumper i guess any bumper off a fiat would do the job so have a nice word with a local dealer who deals with commerial vans, not cars as they tend to be be a waste of time, to see if they have any written off vans or where a commercial breakers yard is. also try good old yellow pages as not everyone is found via the internet though it would be so much similar if they were.
------------- life is to short to be miserable -smile.
Hi to another Newbie Robbo and thanks for the info. I will try the Fiat scrap dealers and see what I can find.
Hopefully we will be able to make one of your meets soon and even better if it could be somewhere near where our bike meets are too.....kill 2 birds with one stone!!
Oh.........and maybe just a LITTLE of the pink stuff please.
Hi, was watching the autostratus myself through-out the auction: small world isn"t it?Anyway, this place might be of some help to you: something else I came across on e-bay! Good luck.
Thanks very much for that as they are proving quite helpful. It is certainly a small world if you were watching this motorhome too......what put you off it?
we weren"t able to view the motorhome prior to end of auction due to work commitments and the price kept going up and up and up! more than we expected for a damaged autostratus. It is the one with the damaged rear quarter, isn"t it, where all the damage was to the bathroom area? Had no idea how much it would cost us to repair so we gave it a miss! Good job we did really otherwise we"d have been bidding against each other and the price would have gone up even more!!!
How are you getting along with the repairs? Be nice to see some pics of your progress as you go along!
Yeah, just starting on the repairs now. We know mechanics and parts people (for some things)and hopefully can get the rest of the stuff from the ebay link you sent us as they seem very helpful.
Yes this Autostratus is the rear damage one but it's not as bad as the pics looked and the interior just needs a good clean. When it's finished it will double in value which is why we bid up to that price but we would have gone no higher. I will put pics on as things are done to it and hopefully it won't take too long to do. Fingers crossed!!
Certainly is a small world if you lived in Redditch ! We live in Northfield , 6 miles from Birmingham City centre but have two aunts living in Redditch. Have you lived up North long? Is it any better than the Midlands? I keep trying to convince the other half to move away from Birmingham but haven,t succeeded as yet!
I'm originally from up here and I lived in Redditch for 4 years in Brockhill. It was a nice area and countryside but I didn't like further afield (towards Birmingham) Well......I liked the Jewellery Quarter!!!
I have been back up North for 2 years now and it's home. Where would you consider moving up North? There are some beautiful areas!! Have a holiday up here and try to convince the other half!!!
I,ve been trying to persuade the other half to tour the Lake District and Scotland for two weeks this summer. We travelled up to Carlisle a few weeks back to view a Swift Kontiki : it was actually 15 miles east of Carlisle in beautiful countryside ( unfortunately the motorhome wasn,t as beautiful as it,s surroundings! ). The area was really peaceful and scenic: lovely! Then we had to come home--------to Birmingham!!!!! What a downer!!!
Lake District and Scotland are the most beautiful places in the country. There is a beautiful caravan park in the Scottish Borderlands, just through Jedburgh and out the other side and it's called Lilliards Edge......golf course at the back, restaurant, shop and in the middle of fields and forest. The surrounding areas are beautiful too...Kelso, Melrose. That is our first port of call when the M.H is up and running.
The work is starting today on the MH although we spent all day cleaning it yesterday, inside and out....phew!!! Even tht has made a big difference and we are also respraying as the colour has been hand painted in beige and browns.....urgh. It will soon be a lighter beige and navy blue with some sign writing on it!!
Getting excited now!!
Also, I think you need to put the foot heavily down on your other half and tell them that you ARE going to the Lakes and Scotland!!Or at least compromise and go where they want one trip and then where you want on the next one....fair!! LOL......not to be missed.
Shame your viewing of the Kontiki didn't go well but I guess it was a nice trip for you seeing the scenery.
I presume you're looking for a new MH then? The man where we bought ours sells quite a few nice ones at a good price if you're interested and he's in Thetford (not far from you)
