I am sure that there are some sites that take multi dog owning campers, but on our holiday in Scotland this summer we only found one. When we have been on sites we have never had any complaints about the dogs, they do not bother anyone, are tied up when outside the van (see gallery), we clean up after our dogs and they are not into barking or howling and being nuisances. We take them for long walks off site and apart from the pup the others ignore strangers, unless they get too close to them. The pup wants to love everyone but is calming down as he gets older.
As I have already said I have no problem with paying for them on sites but we are members of the c&cc and were told this summer when up in scotland that we would not be able to camp in some sites due to having 4 dogs.
To the person that posted that we would be worried about him camping next to us with 4 bikes in tow I would say that as long as they werent all rev'ing up, stinking us out with exhaust fumes and scaring my dogs then I wouldn't have any problem with them, my husband has a yamaha thunderace and both of my kids (15 & 20) are into bikes, trail bikes and quads.
I could understand if we were on a site and being anti social and asked to leave, but not to be allowed in to start with is upsetting.
Tina

We Go to Scottish higlands Easter and Halloween for 2 x 10 day trips each year and we never use a site. I never have a problem either, we have a Patterdale Terrier who just adores the wilds.
Surprised at the dutch , because the Netherlands forbids parking a motorhome / caravan anywhere but on a commercial caravan/camp site. It carries a hefty fine on the spot.
Austria is the same, only they rip you off and then give you a postage stamp sized pitch, with everyone on top of you."So bad I'll not be back"
Belguim is a little bit more tollerant, and I have wildcamped in places.Belguim also has strictly Motorhome specific Parking places in Oostende etc: these are free and near the centre of town.
Germany really is motorhome friendly ans is by far the best kept secret in europe , they have "stellplatzes" strictly Motorhome only Parks with services ie: Fresh water, waste water dump and toilet dump facilities, usually electric hookup for 1 euro or sometime even free.
You can buy a book "BordAtlas Stellplatz" on Amazon.de for about £16 which lists them all with a picture and a breakdown of facilities. It is in German though, but you soon get to know what's what.Searchable by region or town/ villageor GPS SAT NAV coordinates. It is also available from
http://www.motorcaravanners.org.uk/
you have to join though, and is even cheaper.
Their is also another book available from the above club called CAMPERSTOP EUROPE
(A multilingual (English, German,French and Italian) guide listing 6200 motor
home stopovers in Austria, Belgium, Croatia, Denmark, France, Germany, Greece,
Holland, Italy, Luxemburg, Portugal, Slovenia, Spain and Switzerland.
Camper Stop offers motor home information in English regarding overnight stays and services as well as sights and events in the area of the stop over.
There also many photographs giving you an idea of what the parking area looks like.
This guide is a translation of Campergids a yearly publication which until now has only been published in Dutch. Prices for the stop over are given with many of them being free.
An essential guide for those who like to ues Aires - Stelplatz - Cafe carparks but require information / directions in English.
Please phone Colin at Head Office for a copy. 020 8893 3883 )
The Moselle region especially is coming down with them, every hole in the hedge,u can't miss the little motorhome symbols pointing the way.If anyone needs more info just ask.
Anyways , time for bed.............

We also have dogs, 2 rescued German Shepherds. We have rescued this breed for 40 yrs, we've just taken on our 8th. We are members of the CC, & mainly use CLs.& the first duty upon receiving the new sites book, is to cross out all CLs that charge for dogs, even if it's only pennies. We've found a commercial "Adults Only" site in Longnor Derbyshire. Their dog walk is simply vast, easily the same sized area as most CLs use to site vans! There are dog bins scattered around the walk, but even so, I've still seen owners simply ignore their little darlings deposits.The site has changed hands this year, & we haven't yet visited the new owners, but the previous owners used to christen me their "dog warden" because of the verbals I handed out to ignorant dog owners who thought they hadn't been spotted. I'm afraid a lot of us "Week-end Gypsies" leave a lot to be desired. We stayed on a Midlands CL, needing to do some business in the area, that had a large lake, that simply invited to be walked round, a lovely area. On a recently vacated pitch, were a pile of used tea bags & cigarette butts, where a lazy b'stard had been idling his time away. When this was pointed out to the site owner, he said that they had been there for the week, & that they would be refused if trying to book again. Sorry for the Victor Meldrew rant, but some "campers" are #~*/_,.<}
