The pole that sits in the gutter, should be slightly wider than the material of the awning that it is threaded through. The clamps are then secured to the part of the pole that is showing, and on to the gutter.
on our awning there are small 'cut out' sections along the sleeve that the pole feeds through so you clamp directly onto the pole and over the gutter rail, not over the fabric,
