I am not allowed to park our van outside our house but have to park it up the very end of our road where the neighbours are not so obsessed....
Very irritating & inconvenient trying to keep the peace.......

The legislation which governs which side of the road you park on at night is based on two important safety issues

1 as mentioned earlier any aproaching vehicle will see your rear reflectors

2 If you park on the wrong side (offside to the kerb) when you switch your headlights on you will dazzle oncoming vehicles, moreso than when you park with your nearside top the kerb

Enough about parking regs, can we get a string going about my pet hate / road hazzard UNLIT SKIPS

Ok I know I need to get out more

Hi Jim,

Yes unlit skips are a real pain in the butt, the operators should be fined heavily for this, especially when they they leave them in unlit backstreets. Are these companies that hard up that they cant afford reflectors and lights for the skips, can't think why as they charge an arm and a leg to hire them,

Tony and Tracy.

Well said, people after my own heart. My big concern is safety, have you ever considered how imovable a skip is on impact!

Another bug bear is that the skip operators will always try to make out its down to the hirer to deal with lights, absolute rollox, its down to the hire company and dont let them tell you otherwise. That liability only changes if you have had a continuous hire for more than circa 30 days.

I really really should get out more
