off hand i think its pre 2006or 7 .seat belts were exempt in the rear of campers for all rear seats. the only ones that needed them were the front. you could ride in the back un belted .you still can. bit like the front middle seat. there is now something about kids have to have belts. will have a look and try and define it. if you go to the top of m,home and camper forum there are pages on seatbelts .i have just looked on the direct gov site and i still read it as pre sept campers are exempt belts and if there is no belts you dont have to wear them . of course you cant wear whats not there.
I know what your saying mate but I sure wouldn't be willing to let my kids travel unbelted legal or not.... I doubt there are many would..... both the jap van I owned had 6 all belted seats ....
Please check the legal side of it,as far as I know is,if its a campervan or motorhome and is registered as for that use you are only allowed to carry the same ammount of passengers as the sleeping.
------------- Think this year is to follow old meet friends for 2014.
If you cant do someone a good turn, don`t do them a bad one,its nice to be nice you know, and little things mean much more later in life.
Pete.
when i was a kid and my kids were young there werent seat belts in the back they came to no harm. as for number of beds as no reference to the seat belts. when ours were very small i fitted big hooks like head rest style to kiddie seats hooked over the very back seats . later i just fitted a harness in a away it didnt get in the way for making the beds. but then later thy just sat quiet and enjoyed the view. (i do hope you remember slip on head rests its a thing from the past now i think.).
we also had lots of old vws that didnt require sear belts and for years deliberately only bought old ones so we didnt have to wear them. i built trikes as well again no helmet no seatbelts. take your choice. run the risk. i now have a truck that doesnt require seat belts . i hate authority saying what we must do. what happened to freedom of choice. have fun we try to.. cheers alan.
yes you do get wet but you can pull a teardrop and most let you go past or pull out just so they can look take pics etc. been all over europe pulling my teardrop. i had a half beetle one with the roof removed. white with red seats./ was quite well known in the bike ,vw world. also built fibre glass bodied ones . still have the mould. think about doing another but never get enough time. life does run away sometimes . and you cant drive ride every thing at once. cheers alan.
The reason there are not many vans around with 6 seatbelts is due to the payload. The quoted payload for most motorhomes includes the driver and usually half tanks of fuel/water etc. If you add 5 people to it 9 times out of 10 you're overweight pn a 3500kg van.
