Hi hope you don't moind me butting in!, I am new to this froum as wel as to camping in general, I have been given an Electrolux Fridge that the manual says is 12v or gas only, can anyoje advise me how to wire it up to work as a 12V, it does not have any wire or adapter fitted? Any helpa ppreciated! Cheers Jonathan

Hi Jonathan

If I were you I wouldn't even bother with the 12v side. I also have a 12v/gas electrolux that is really old. When on a journey, I use it as a coolbox - put in all frozen/fresh stuff and a few coolbox ice packs, then I light the gas when I'm pitched.

The 12v operation is only for when you're actually moving - in transit - you can't run it on 12v when stationary, it will flatten your car battery in about half an hour if you forget to switch it off! And you have to cool it down first (with ice packs) as it only keeps the temp it starts out with. It will only start to cool if you drive for approx 100 miles or more!

hi all
fridge problem again
i have a electrolux rm 212 f in my caravan
the problem is as follows
on mains the freezer is getting cold as expected
on gas the freezer is getting cold as expected
but the fridge compartment stays at ambient temperature
i do not use the car electric to power the fridge etc
so is there something that may need replacing ?
any help / info would be appreciated
thanks in advance tony

Could it be that you're just not giving it enough time to get cold? If the freezer part is inside the main body of the fridge, that part gets cold first then the rest of the fridge will cool after a while. It cools quicker on gas than on electric.

We're in the same boat, just acquired an old caravan and haven't a clue how fridge, heater and water heater work. On the good side we have managed to get the cooker and oven working.

Fridge is an Electrolux 212B so would greatly appreciate a copy of a manual if anyone has one and water heater is a Carver Cascade Rapide again a manual would be great or any tips to getting it working.

Thanks Jules

Hi all,

I am so glad I came across this thread.

I too am having troubles with my 212B fridge. It doesn't cool on gas. It works well on 240v and 12v.

The pilot light stays lit, but after a few hours, it feels warmer than when we switched it to gas.

Any ideas what the problem is??

My wife and I are in Croatia now, and will be on the road for the next 2 and a half months, so we really want to get it sorted out ASAP.

Could someone please email me a copy of the manual too?

Many thanks in advance.
