Hi Jana,

Dont feel worried - you do what you want with your Freddy and as long as you and he are both happy - it matters nothing what you spend on him and if you have no need or desire for the accessories and add ons that some of us choose to buy then there is no crime in that at all!

Must say your Freddy sounds well taken care of to me and you have absolutely NOTHING to worry about so just keep on enjoying him like you do and just remember that material possessions aren't as important as love and care!

Sue

Hi Jana,

Don't worry Jana,it's probably just me going through "New Motorhome Syndrome"!

Although I do like the idea of Vital Sparks cooling system for the dogs

Your probably quite right to keep things to a minimum,I emptied our current Motorhome as I thought my new one would arrive this weekend but there has been a delay on delivery so I have started putting things back in the Motorhome and I can't believe the useless things we keep in the Motorhome! For instance 2xbattery camping lights,3xtarpulin type sheets,a baseball bat()enough first aid kit to keep the local A&E going for 6months,I have never used the "Pitch Reserved" sign that I bought and I have never used the collapsable bucket that I bought so I think your probably right in not dashing out and buying everything that has Motorhome written on it!

Hiya Val

You have no need to apologise for your spending spree either you know! You work for it and as far I am concerned each to their own and if you've got it, spend it that's my motto! You can't take it with ya - so enjoy it whilst you are here and if making your motorhome all posh and cosy is what gives you pleasure then I say why ever not???? That's what you work all those hours for isn't it?

I know exactly what you mean by all the stuff you accumulate that you dont really need and when we emptied Winnie Mk1 I couldnt believe how much I had crammed in and stuff that I too never used either! When I emptied the bathroom cabinets I had more toiletries than Boots the chemists LOL! Hubby had a pitch reserved for Winnie sign made for me as a suprise  - but up to now like you, we have never used ours either but I could never part with it as it is sentimental.

Keep the baseball bat though Val as we have one of those stored for if ever we need it quickly! We keep it in one of the overhead cupboards in the motorhome bedroom and it would come in very handy for a good ole swipe around the lugholes of an unwanted intruder! I mean you just never know who could be lurking around outside do ya?  Plus who knows I might have to fight hubby off one night when he gets a bit too playful LOL?

Sue

Glad you understand why we have the baseball bat Sooh!

Don't suppose everyone would think it "correct" to keep such a thing in your Motorhome but as you say we never know when we may need it!

Plus, like you say I could always threaten Martin with it!

Just can't wait Sooh for the new one to arrive!

Oooooh toiletries, forgotten about all the soaps/shower gel/moisturiser that we have "collected" from hotels, they all ended up in the Motorhome too and we never use them as we also take our usual shower gel and those piddling little bottles never get used!!

Got your plans laid down for Italy yet?

Val

Hi Val,

You do make me laugh!

Plans for Italy are coming along nicely thanks. Waiting for Tesco to send me my vouchers to use against Euro Tunnel ticket so as soon as I receive them I will be booking me crossing wheeeeeeeeeeeee! Just hope they arrive in time as we are hoping to get off by the 28th of this month. We are not using the Ferry this time due to having our little doggy now and on the Tunnel we can stay in the motorhome with her whereas if we go by Ferry we have to leave her in there on her own. She is usually ok in Winnie on her own but with the Ferry engine noise and the rocking and rolling motion of the boat she might feel stressed so the Tunnel it is - plus it will be another new experience to look forward to as we've never been through the Tunnel before!

Where you planning to take Muriel for her first maiden voyage Val?  Wont be too long now and she will be with you before you know it and as I can still log on to the internet via my laptop at no extra charge when I am in Italy I will keep checking on the delivery progress

Sue

Sooh,I am very envious of your forth coming trip to Italy!

I considered the Euro Tunnel for our dog but I think it would probably blow his mind so we are thinking of the Isle of Wight next summer as it is a short crossing and the ferries allocate doggy areas on deck and although I know he will not be happy he may just make it across the Solent without  having a heart attack!

Just been watching A Place in the Sun and they featured the I.O.W and it looked quite nice. They also featured Corsica and I have set my heart on a place there! Don't know if you have ever been there Sooh? It looked fantastic!

Oh back to reality! We have a few places booked for Nov/Dec so if Muriel Mk2 is not ready we shall take our old faithful Muriel Mk1. I think we should have our new Motorhome in time for our trip to Burrs Country Park in Bury which is just an hour or so away from home.Next weekend we are going to Robin Hoods Bay,one of our favourite places, with friends who have a Cheftain, they have just ordered a new Autotrail and they have a 6months wait!

Right I am now going to check out the prices of property in Corsica,me thinks I am in for a shock(a girl can dream can't she?).

Eeek I even made a pitch reserved sign which is a picture of FreddyVan laminated and we put it on 2 bits of recycled bamboo.  See even saved a couple of pound there lol.

Jana,I am going to make a new sign as my hubby snapped the stick off the old one,I will have to get a picture of the new Motorhome (WHEN it arrives!) or a picture of me looking ferocious to laminate onto a new one

To be honest the one we bought was a total rip off, really tacky and flimsy but I did see one in the Lakes that was homemade in the shape of a cross (spooky!),looked like some kind of memorial,a little OTT I think!

If anyone is any good at art I really want a caricature of FreddyVan that I could use for a pitch marker and on a tshirt. You can get models of boyracer type cars in a similar vein but haven't seen a transit yet.

To be honest the green CC type ones are just too boring and originality is good.

Anymore tips for money saving always appreciated.
