Although most people use an adjustable reamer Fords used to insist a broach(part number C3103A) was used to expand the bushes into the housing and finish them to the correct size.
In Mk2 manuals (which use the same set up) they advocate the use of an adjustable reamer set to 21.84-21.86mm.
Hi Billy ..yes i did write and publish the kingpin help with the aid of the transit forum...great bunch of ladies and gentlemen............. i cant give you the size of reamer at mo as its buried in the workshop somewhere ..my late wife brought it me off a old chap round the corner and then i found another at car boot with kingpins n bushes and other odds n ends ..well you just have to have it if its there to buy lo...l havent done a set for short while now tho i did do a ldv which was a fairly simple and the pins fell out . best wishes Billy
well the ole mercs gone to heaven sold the engine n box ,bodys been fragged an will be back shortly as a beer can lol...now got an iveco 26 seater coach which is merrily being converted bit at time into camper fixed bed this time tho..an if the engine ever blows shes getting a 2.5 transit turbo thrown in lol.. Kevin bet you havent got a mk 1 front bumper knocking about any where lol ...hope everyone has a good summer :-) .............
I wondered if you can help. I am looking for a Mark 2 Ford travelhome that is either being broken or somewhere where I can track down the following parts.
A door lock knob for passenger door Brown plastic panel on the side of the travelhome CI body, that says ‘Travelhome’. It is the drivers side panel we need.
Hope you can help us or maybe point us in the right direction of someone that might. If you have a Mark 2 travelhome you are breaking we may well get some spares from you for other bits that may go walkabout.
Help and advice and some parts also available for mark 3..4..5..6..and 7 Ford Transits and some ldv,s with ford engine ,gearbox and running gear, dont be afraid to ask if you are stuck, best wishes Billy or just fancy some chat
Crackin on with 26 seater bus conversion, whole bus winterised nice thick insulation in walls ,floor and roof ,shower in, loo in, 100 gallon fresh water tank in and winterised, waste tank in but not yet winterised, mains and sockets etc all in gas lines layed but not connected as yet, Iveco engine smokey 2.5 diesel so will be exchanged for a 100ps 2.5 turbo diesel transit lump from a ldv but will have manual bosch fuel injection pump instead of lucas electronic. lol i gave up with the last ford t iveco and brought another ford iveco happily bashing on with this one, its far better all round plus i dont have to change the engine hehe, ive kept the old one tho has i stripped it out and will keep it for parts at mo, fill it up with me scrap from customers vans/trucks and finally stick it on the weigh bridge and have a nice chrimbo ...the gearbox etc all good just smokey lump which does not clear at all just good for parts ...meanwhile driving my transit everyday
Got rid of the iveco it was the second one the steering rack broke of its brackets, its a weak point tho it was very reliable other wise, but do the cam belts regular as it causes one headache when it snaps ,there fairly easy to replace.
Gone back to a ford transit the one ive brought is coach built and the biggest one possible for a ford transit,in the process of removing the 76ps engine and fitting a turbo diesel lump from a w reg ambulance should then be able to drive up junction 38 to 39 on the m6 faster than 30 mph even tho i opened up the injection pump a bit lol,but to be fair the engine that was in it was tired after pulling the big lump of a camper round since 1990 .I have to change the water heater since the prev owner did,nt drain it one winter seems easy enough to do as its under the rear bed with loads of space round it .
Going to replace the cam belt fan belt power steering belt, ball joints as a matter of course and ensure i carry a spare clutch cable as transits like to ping one just as you are in a traffic que lol..
