we have a 2.5TD 102bhp VWT4 hi top and get at least 33 - 35 mpg

Our Swift Sundance 630G weighs in at around 3600kg in working trim, and is 23' long, with a large overcab.

The 2.8JTD engine will, at a push return 25mpg, but I normally cruise at around 70mph (GPS speed,, so indicated 75 on the clock) and get nearer 20mpg.

That said, when we're not in a hurry due to restricted time off work, it easily returns 23-4mpg cruising around the lanes at gentle speeds!

I just chipped the engine, and no difference has been noticable, apart from the torque.

  we normally get around 23-25 MPG (2.5td talbot) driving around 65-70mph weighing around 2800kg

Has it really got that bad Jeff? I have to say I am glad to be out of it and retired, even though with the firms I worked for I was always one of the most fuel efficient drivers on  the road, and incidently I get 30 mpg on a good run with my 2.8 jtd Ducato.

We've got a Romahome Dimension which is based on a Citroen Relay 2.0 Diesel we get around 32-35 mpg on a run, we previously had a Romahome Duo a small motorhome which is based on a Citroen Berlingo and from that we could get 50mpg!

have a  ford transit based chausson flash 03 it has a 2.0 l td engine  which returns 25-30 depending how I drive

My 2.8 HDI Auto-Sleepers Executive 2003 is a flying machine & thirsty. The last mileage check I did, returned app. 26mpg. Most of that was over app. 500 miles & mainly using the cruise control, which is a boon if you want to eek out the diesel. But if I drive it as I would my car, the mpg plunges, but she's fast.

I can get nearly 30 mpg out of my old Mk1 V4 transit coachbuilt.Its got an OD box and the heads and manifolds have been modded.

Maybe design hasn't moved on as much as we sometimes like to think.

Our 1985 Talbot Express Camelot -( the old 2 litre pushrod, petrol, Peugot engine ) - averages 28 - 30 at 55 - 60 mph -  - just hard work keeping the rust moth at bay - (perhaps that is why it is so economical ? - its a lot lighter than when it was new.)
