Hi

Where thinking of getting relillable gaslow bottles fitted to our motorhome and were wondering if anybody has them already and how you get on with them, where going skiing next year in France and Italy and will have the heating on all the time so think this may be the answer instead of getting european bottles, also going for 6 weeks to France in the summer.

We already run our taxi on LPG so are use to the filling procedure, but would like anybodys comment about them.

Thanks

Fiona

I believe that if you are going to use a lot of gas then it's a good idea as you will soon get a payback on the initial cost. You could also look at the alternative of fitting a tank somewhere under the van. At the moment we don't use enough gas but when I do I will have something fitted.

Hi, I fitted a Gaslow system last month, got the kit from a local caravan dealer and fitted myself used the 11kg size cylinder. Cost :- cylinder £90, fitting kit £60 and an adaptor/level gauge £24 to join with my propane reducing valve. Refilling costs 42p per litre about £9 to fill 11kg cylinder, a good saving as i could only get 6kg Calor cylinders in my van and they cost £13.50 to fill. The other great benefit is being able to top up at any time and no lifting of cylinders. You will also need an adaptor to fill in France i think they are about £15.

Also fitted last month.  Took an hour and was easy to do.

Good price and advice from http://www.co.uk/shopuk/gaslow_refillables.htm

Hope this posts this time

Thanks for the info, its made our mind up to defiantly get the system fitted, we dont want a fixed tank because we want to go through the channel tunnel and through the Mont Blonc tunnel and fixed tanks are not allowed, Im going to ring gaslow to check with them first to check the bottles can be switched off, before we buy the kits.

Thanks again

Just noted that link I gave was incomplete

http://www.co.uk/shopuk/gaslow_refillables.htm

I have 2 X 11Kg.  Each has a valve like a normal cylinder so you can shut it off

I like the idea, but the initial cost, plus the cost of refills mean it will take a considerable time to save money.

I appreciate the convenience issue, but changing a cylinder takes one and a half minutes.....

It would take me years to recoup....

I just love the Gaslow refillable bottles we have - 2 x 11kg.  Much cheaper than Calor and so easy to fill.  We used to have MTH refillables on our old A class which were also excellent but had to be removed from the vehicle to fill.  Our present Gaslow bottles are filled via a filler cap and do not need to be removed.  Excellent job - particularly over the water.

Some UK Autogas pumps are quite difficult to operate but I've always secured help when I've looked helpless!

Totally agree with Colin easy to fill and eventuallypay for themselves plus they are pretty easy to fit yourself.

we had gaslow fitted before we went skiing in february, we went to italy and unfortunately there was no lpg where we went so we had to use external bottles. one of the problems you will have is that the gas runs out very fast in the cold we have 2 x 11kg bottles and that would probably have only lasted a week maximum being on permanently. it is advisable to carry a spare bottle as its a real pig when it runs out in the middle of the night!!!
